July Sport Compact Car comparo.

I quickly scanned it at the store. Evo 13.4 ¼ and STI 13.1 (that is moving for switching gears 4 times). The laps times though were within about .6 (i think). the STI had the faster lap time.

Also, 30-50 and 50-70 #'s the STI kicks the Evo's ***... by about .4 of a second combined.

Anyway....... they also had a dyno graph of each car... the Evo was the production model and the STI was "preproduction".

I forget the hp #'s, but it sounds like everyone comes up with the same conclusions..... STI kicks *** in a straight line and Evo kicks *** in handling.

SCC is so Suby biased it's not even funny... hell they think their project Impreza is better than the EVO...

"pre-production"... yeah, and everyone was saying how was sending out "ringer" cars...

They chose the EVO over the STi at the end. How does that make them "Suby-biased"?

BTW, their Project WRX (which we tuned) is making around 50 more wheel hp than their currently stock EVO (250 vs. 200 wheel hp on our low-reading dyno). That propably accounts for much of the difference in out-right straight-line speed.

Cheers,
shiv

i read the article and i found it to be like most of the others....Sti is down right brutish and blunt and the Evo is more presise and exacting. I would rather have the sharpness myself. all out straight line performance is not a big deal for me

LoL! You wonder that too? Sometimes, I don't get the issue at all and I blame my mailman for it. LoL.

I was looking at the Car & Driver in the store today and they also gave the STi the edge over the EVO..... They said that thge STi handles better in dirt roads and it's more comfortable for a daily driver... Still, they said that choosing one over the other is like asking Ben Cartwright which son he loves better............
