Slim Fan Question

I installed a 13" slim fan and connected the blue to the blue and the black to the black on the OEM connector to the OEM fan.... Now when the fan kicks on it seems like the fan is pushing air from the engine towards the front of the car instead of sucking air into the engine bay from the front of the car..... Does this sound possible since I set it up blue to blue and black to black.

pretty sure they can only go on one way since the fan needs a motor to spin it...which fan is it

sounds like the power to the fan is hooked up backwards, try reversing the polarity/wires

The fan can only go in 1 way. So if I reverse the polarity it will change the direction correct? I was thinking that was all I needed to do... but I asked the dumb asses for a pull and I think I got a push that is why when it is hooked up correctly it is pushing instead of pulling... So I assume if I reverse the wires it should pull?

Update.... How the hell did you guys get the zip ties through the stock rad? My one mounting bracket broke that was screwed into the stock location.... I can not get the zip ties to go through the stock rad.

They will go...you might get some more heavy duty ones or go buy a thin nylon rod in order to work the clearance through the fins. The mounting nylon rods that came with my slimline fan actually broke for some reason and the fan was only mounted at the bottom and sort of hanging, so of course I busted out the zip ties for the top and its been fine since.

Does it really matter which direction its flowing? Either way your bringing cold air in or removing the hot air out the front. You probably won't have overheating problems either way.

yes it does matter if it is pushing air towards the bumper and when u drive the air is pushed in the other direction that would be not good lol

When the car is in motion the incoming air cools the radiator much more than the radiator fan. The radiator fan is for when engine temps get too hot while the car is STATIONARY.

But what about when the air is on? The fan is not on only when the car is STATIONARY. Also that can not be good for the fan motor making it work harder just like compressor surge on a turbo is not good when air pushes back towards the compressor. I also have a feeling the factory has the fan pulling for a reason...

Your comparing a radiator fan to a turbo compressor? I don't think that is a very relevant comparison. When the interior fan is on the radiator fan turns on as well, not sure what this has to do with anything. You can actually run a car WITHOUT a radiator fan. It is not needed if the car is always in motion (I use to do this to one of my cars when the radiator fan burned out and my commute was 50 miles each way on the highway). If you do not idle at a stand still the car will never overheat. The amount of air the radiator fan blows is very insignificant compared to the air charge cooling the radiator at 60 mph.

I am not here to argue with you over a damn radiator fan and which way the thing should turn. I am not saying my fan is like my turbo. But.... If something is spinning 1 direction and then air forces it to spin another would you say that is a good thing for the fan motor? I am saying there is a reason the factory has the fan pulling and not pushing, I am saying that the fan must have some purpose for being there or Mitsubishi would not put it there would they? To be honest the problem at hand is not the direction the fan is spinning as I reversed the polarity, the problem is the fan mounting bracket broke and was hanging there and I was asking people how they got their slim fan zip ties to penetrate the radiator fins since the back fins are side to side and the front fins are up and down. The last time I spoke about the direction the fan was spinning was on DEC 26th. So all in all your post is not "relevant" to my recent question.
