so close to buying, do i go IX or wait for the X???

ok guys, ive searched, read alot of posts and test driven the car . i am so ready to buy, but do i go with the IX, a cult classic, the last of its kind, with huge aftermarket options and of course the 4G63. Available NOW.

OR, do i wait for the hidden potential of the X, global styling, handling with SAWC, a cohesive interior and the 4B11T, albeit an aluminium block could possibly produce more HP. NOT available for at least a year.

i plan on modding the car for a blend of performance and looks. i like the IX becuase it is proven. I like the X becuase quite frankly it could be stunning. i am sure there are others in this position, what do you think?

well it would be mainly up to you.. if you wanna wait or not...personally i would buy the IX, since i am sure the availability of the aftermarket parts for the X will not be immediate....

I am still kind of torn. I don't quite like the X's bodystyle. But it is begining to grow on me.

I have never been a fan of buying 1st Gen cars. Every car i bought that was the first one that year was a MAJOR pain in the azz.

Bingo! Get a IX at a great price now, then trade it in a few years, once they've got the bugs worked out of the X and an after-market exists.

Well the price on the two will be different as well. I betting the "modder" in you would prefer the IX.

That being said, i plan to pick up a X in yr. 2 and keep my VIII as a beater

Also to add....1st gen cars usually come trimmed down as far as standard features. As a car progresses optional features become standard at usually the same price point.

Example: the Special Edition IXs out there which have a bit of the best parts from all the options. The front lip, aluminum roof, 5 speed, etc!

I had the same issue as the OP - but waiting till the end of the year, car being a first gen, etc., I just figured to go with the IX MR for now, and then after the 2nd or 3rd year of the X, go get one at that time.

i am in the same situation as but i have made the decision to wait and see i would hate to spend 30k on the 9. Only for a year later for an X to pull up to me and blow me away with its looks. Its best to wait and see, if the X flops get a used 9 for cheaper and mod the hell out of it.

thats my plan wait and see

I agree with you but, it's not a first gen... It's a 10th generation. Hence, the Evo X.

get the 9.
After I had a 03 (first evo in the US), I don't think I would buy another 1st gen.
There is always going to be little problems with new models.

If you really want to buy the 10 after it's launched, I would wait a few more years and let them fix all the little problems first and trade your 9 in.

EVO IX is gonna be a classic JDM car. last of the 4g63 with the MIVEC. Also Evo X is gonna be clutchless not as fun IMO. Id wait for the last of X's to get one. So you get the tweeked version. buy both. Buy a IX now and buy a X in 5 or 6 yrs. =)
