they also lose output as well. as the color temp rises, it will lose "usable" light. your eyes will fatigue sooner with 8000k and higher bulbs than with 6000k and lower temp bulbs.

phillips also released "color Matched" bulbs to match bulbs that have already color shifted...

the ultinon series is the bluish 6000k bulbs..

Sorry, but I was not referring to the Ultinons. This was for the normal 4100k bulbs that I was talking about. I'll get the model numbers when I have some time.

As bulbs colorshift/age, they also lose output. My brother has a set of Philips "colorshifted" bulbs, and they are horrid. The output is worthless. Reminds me of people who buy those "blue" halogen bulbs. Sure it looks cool (IMO not! ) but the output will suffer...
Is this what people in the retrofit business call "washer mod"?

Yep. But you won't be able to mod the Evo projector since it has a fixed cut-off shield. It has plenty of color as is.

ahhh, very well then. the "plus" series "+" are the ones with the slight color shift in them. they are an estimated time burned into them to replace bulbs that are burned in.

example-your car is a 2001 and your bulb burns out 2 years later. they have a bulb to replace that one with 81257+. instead of the standard 81257. <---those numbers are made up and used just for example...

as stated earlier by another member, there are several bulbs that are available now other than the ultinons.

Ah, that sux. I didn't realize that. I've only seen a few retro's done with EVO projectors, and no one has ever talked about modifying the sheild. You must be right then.

You sure you can't use the "washer mod" to "move" the shield a bit, just like in the S2000's?

I totally understand what you are saying.

What I was meaning, is that the products Philips used inside the HID capsule, were "upgraded" in a sense. They would not "colorshift" until much later in the bulbs life( or even possibly they WOULDN'T colorshift at all), compared to earlier models they put out.

This was something I learned on hidforum, or the philips lighting forum, when they were still around. That was 5+ years ago, so I don't have a link to back my comments up...
