Buying Evo
Buying Evo
Found an evo VIII at a dealership, 23k on the clock, 2004 EB. What should I be looking for before purchasing. Currently from their pic i see grounding wires running from the motor. Also, the front bumper has been modified, where the two slits run across the front (above the mouth, and below the diamond). The person pretty much cut those out, have no idea why but should I be worried?
Any help would be appreciated.

2004 = BBY, not EB. oh, and how much is the price on it? If you are going to buy it, have a mechanic check it from top to bottom and make sure you get the dealership to fix anything that's wrong with it. for example, brakes, clutch, tires, etc...

I wouldn't buy a used Evo unless I knew the car's history (e.g. EvoM member with good reputation who is selling a car that was obviously well cared for, all top quality parts, constant oil changes, etc. etc.) IMO you're asking for trouble buying a used Evo at some random dealership.
well someone has to buy a used evo eventually lol i would just have a mechanic check the car out and make sure everything is good. If you/your friends know about evos/cars id also recommend bringing them along to check it out/drive it. This car is def one that id do a carfax on and spend alot of time at the dealership making sure it hasnt been destroyed by a previous owner. If it still has warranty which i believe 04s do even better.
Well considering what your budget is not everyone can buy new, not to mention not everyone is willing to loose that much money on a car. I bought my car used with 34k on it a few months ago and not one problem yet other then the crappy stock DV. I bought it private party with all service records, clean car fax ect. If you plan to mod the hel out of it and drive it live it should be then i wouldnt worry about buying used since when something breaks it just a better reason to replace it with cool aftermarket stuff. I got my car for 20k with the plans off tossing a bunch of parts at it and spending some time at the track with it. When the time comes i will part it out and get a little of my money back and call it a day. For me it worked out perfectly and I couldnt be happier

But not everyone is lucky, especially with Evo - heard many cases with messed up rides
I bought an 03 with 26k on the clock , still looked and ran like new. I've only had to replace the clutch and change my tranny fluid from knotchy shifting. paid half of what u would get a new one for so I'm happy . Just get it checked out!
