How is your paint holding up, is the consensus that the quality is about on par with the lancer for example
I mean are these cars goin to need a repaint within a year or two of buying them. I'm just a bit worried after a few of the post I've been reading

my paint seems to be holding up fine... it justs that after i got it washed at embassy.. it looks like i need to wax it =( i got those gay little barely noticeable streaks if you kno what im talking about.... other than that the paints seems to be fine but i mean ive had the car since about when it came out.... which is only a few months.. u cant expect our paint to already be falling apart... you will not be able to tell on the quality until a year or so.. but i suspect it cant be too bad.. how can they give us cheap paint on a 30 + car! if so mitsubishi will hear from us!
I washed my evo for probably the 10th time or so the other day. Upon drying my car off, I noticed a small chip in the right passenger door. There was no ding to indicate a rock flying up or anything, not sure how it got there. I will be washing my car again within the week to see if it starts peeling. It unfortunately looks like it might, so we will see what happens. I will keep you all informed if it progresses
By the way, its rally red.

It seems to be comparable to the Toyota, not quite as nice as the BMW, but hey, at the rate we are driving our Evos, we would need a repaint due to damage from rocks and pebbles more than anything else

My paint is ok. The only problems are some swirls at the right angles and a couple of scuff marks on my passenger door sill. It's certainly no different than the paint on any other car I've owned (Honda Prelude, Chevy Z71, Mazda 6).
my silver looks really nice. no paint chips (yet, knock on wood right..) paint feels very smooth.
a bit of orange peel at some locations, but nothing too bad.
id say the paint is nice

My paint is holding up great at close to 3900 miles. Many of my previous cars, namely the german cars (audi/VW/BMW)with the soft water based eco-friendly paint, chip much more easily.I don't think I had more than 500 miles on any of those vehicles before beginning to see chips.
Frankly I have been surprised that the EVO holds-up as well as it does!
One side-note for those trying to decide on a color, the base color on the plastic pieces is black so if you do get a chip on any color other than tarmac black it will be fairly obvious.
Black is always easier to touch-up as well. As mentioned previously though, black unfortunately requires the most effort to keep clean, and tends to show every swirl and imperfection.

Mine is black and I've owned several black cars prior to buying the EVO. This is the thinest paint of the bunch. The color itself is a nice deep black with multi-color spec's but it chip's very easy. My car has 2400 miles on it and I have never driven it on a gravel road. I've owned it since the first week in Feb. It has seven chip's (4 behind the driver side rear door, 1 on the passenger door, and 2 on the front air dam) and 1 very small dent (from a rock) on the hood. Black is beautiful, but the EVO's paint is second rate for a 30k car. Other than that, I love it.
