750.00!!! To fix rear wing.

As so all know the clear coat on the rear wing is a problem with the 8's. The aggravating thing is, I started noticing the the sun damage just after my 36xxx warranty had passed. I had a little extra time today so I decided to take it to a few body shops for a quick estimate. First shop said they couldn't work on aftermarket parts, after I laughed and went on to explain to him that this wing isn't aftermarket he said the carbon fiber is to delicate and he couldn't touch it. Next shop quotes me at 350, I attempted to talk him down but no luck. Eventually I make my way to Glendale Mitsubishi. First I would like to say that I was prepared for the worst but this quote is worth the post. 750 to repair the wing!!! I was floored. My question is this does anyone know of a shop around the Pasadena/LA area that can refinish the clear coat. Anyone run into the same problem and have come up with a better solution? Im thinking of doing it myself but I would like a few more options.

That is ridiculous!! I had my entire CF HOOD color sanded and buffed for $100!! Depending on the severity of the wing, you can have it color sanded.....and buffed for as little as $100....there is another thread on here on how to refinish your wing yourself and for way less than $750! I'll try to look it up for you...

Good Luck!

we do them for 100 as long as they aren't at the point of no return, even then we can do them but they just don't look perfect...

I know there is a thread on here where a guy in Florida will do it for you for $200 and that inlcudes shipping back to you. Also try calling another dealership, it may be worth the extra drive

one of my friends has the same problem... its crazy i would expect that from an after market CF part like a hood etc, but the spoiler that comes already in the car OEM, that should have been Clear coated well...
sand it and recoated, call bodyshops and ask for quotes, if you dont wanna do it yourself
