diy exhaust porting?

Are there any idea's or advice on porting your stock exhaust manifold? I have all the tools for doing this. How much more power or response would this give? I heard its a good mod. Thanks

nah, get an air one and get like real nice fine metal bits in like oval shapes. take your head off and do it to your intake and exhaust manifolds and the head! just make sure you clean the head when you are done haha also make sure you get a gaskets and measure or at least use some type of paint to tell you where everything goes together at.

Definately need something with alot of rpm's to do port work. Aluminum is easy, just gotta be carefull not to take to much material out. You also want to make sure you do each port evenly, you dont want one bigger than the others. Doing cast iron and stainless requires patience. Make sure you have the good bits and stones, the cheep ones will take alot longer.

If it's your first time doing any porting then be cautious. You can use a pneumatic or electric die grinder and agressive carbide and white stone bits for initial removal, but when you get close to the final contour and finish go to something less abrasive like a flapper wheel. It's way too easy to take too much material off...so be careful.

Cool

your gonna burn up some bits. the exhaust manifold is hard. it has a high content of inconel material in it. the hotter it gets, the harder it becomes. here is the difference between when i had a friend of mine port the exhaust and the 10.5 turbine side

I'm sure they do but in my opinion, I wouldn't use a dremel. Too small and porting requires high rpm's and torque. I'm not saying it can't be done with a dremel, it will just take alot longer.

Gaskets are one time use only. They are crushed once you use it.
