gas ban on 15th...price drops??
the gas ban only works if you dont buy from a single source...lets say mobil stations. if no one buys from mobil for lets use a month, Mobil will have to lower their prices to keep up with sales. Thats when you buy gas from them, which in turn forces the other stations down to compete with whomever we boycotted..in this case Mobil... for the last month.
its not an exact science, but things only have a chance to work if they are done properly

Completely untrue.
I work in morton grove and on the 15th the gas station I always go to went from gas being 3.32 to 3.55 a gallon, premium was over 3.80....ahhhh this is why I drive my motorcycle to work and get 50mpg and use the evo for the weekend.
I know a little about the Oil and Fuel industry and I can say that most here are right you dont change the price by not buying for one day. The cost of the barrel of oil is what sets the price and that was sold day and weeks before any day that is Posted and gas ban day. Here is what sets prices. 400,000 dollors a day to RENT an oil platform to drill. millions of dollors a day drilling, doing reports on the oil that is pulled out of the ocean, finding out if its even worth it to deep drill there, most teh time they dont even get the right kind of oil. Some times they hit sweet some times they dont. Hitting natural gas pockets that ruin the run.
BTW Gas is 2.69 a gallon here on post

Here's an idea, do some research and you'll educate yourself on a few things. One being that oil companies take approximately 19% of the total gas sales. Two, the gas stations themselves make roughly 1-2% of sales. Three, most of cost of gas goes to taxes set by the state. Hence why GA had the cheapest gas in the US for many years.
Saying some people are too weak to stand up for themselves? It's not weakness, it's called common sense and knowing what really needs to be done to lower gas prices. Lower consumption over a long period of time. One week of not buying gas from Mobil will only do one thing. Drive the independent owners out of buisness. They make very little money selling gas, most of their profits come from food/drinks/supply sales inside the store. If you don't fill up with gas you won't go inside to buy a soda. The buisness owner can't lower gas prices cause he makes next to scratch on it....therefore he goes under.
A lot of Chicago land area people here lol. I live in Morton Grove and Work in Chicago. Cheer for all the locals.
Ok well back to business. One way to sort of control the Gas prices is if all the major countries got together and decided to put some sort of Price Ceiling on oil companies. But that wont happen because too many rich folks and money is power.
Another solution since we are reaching the same price level now is to switch over to Hydrogen fuel. Hydrogen + oxygen = water vapor as emissions. And I'm not talking about hydrogen fuel cell electric cars. I mean a normal combustion engine using hydrogen as fuel to run. Now an average car can easily use Hydrogen, only modifications needed are different gas tank, fuel lines, and injectors. That is all. And you can throw away the catalytic converter.
Hydrogen also contains more energy than gasoline. So you'll be making more power.
Here this one runs on gasoline and hydrogen:

You know if every car or suv was replaced with a hybrid car that gets 45 mpg. We would be having this same disscution 6 yrs from now.
This is a big problem with no quick solution. Ethanol is not the answer at least not now. At least not corn based ethanol. Too many negative effects like higher food prices. There were riots in Mexico about the price of corn. Not to mention this is going to cause wheat, soy, beef, and chicken to go up in price.
If you want to blame someone for our high gas prices you should start with Tom Daschel the last minority/majority leader of the democrat party in the US Senate. Next the blame can go on the rest of the democrat party in the US Senate, RINO {Republican In Name Only} Republicans in the US Senate, and Bush for not being able to sell this to the public. I don't know if you remember back in 2001 Bush tried to get an energy bill passed that amoung other things open up Alaska for oil exploration. If that bill would have passed and the oil project started. We would have been able to add an extra 500k to 1.5 mil barrels of oil to the market. It was killed in the US Senate. They needed 60 votes to break the filibuster.

Now we are paying price. Got to love those Democrats they really care about the little people.
oh it just hit me, I ****ing filled up at 3.7X per gallon today!
I guess I didnt pay that much attention because I literally got 28.3 mpg.
Miles travelled ~122
Gallons filled ~4.3
122 / 4.3 = 28.3
I dont know what the hell is going on with this car. Some times I get 20 mpg and sometimes 23-24 mpg. This time I hit 28 mpg, and only 40 miles of that was highway miles cruising at 60-65mph. During the streets I was shifting near what is stated in the owners manual. (1-2 @ 15mph, 2-3 @ 25mph etc..)
