The so called 'gas ban' is merely some form of chain mail crap that gets circulated... It has no effect on gas prices at all.

It might have an effect on the prices if everyone did not buy gas for a week or so but who the hell can do that. I don't care about the prices anyways, I have a company car. I only put 15 miles a week on my EVO now.

That's the dumdest idea ever. Ok so you don't buy gas on the 15th, then what you buy gas on the next day? How's that going to affect any prices? Eventually you'll need to buy gas.

If you want gas prices to drop increase the supply. Drill more and build more oil refinaries but that isn't a quick fix. At least 3.5 to 4 years to build a oil refinary. Here in the US with all the regulations and negative views on how great oil really is. It will take twice the time. It will also take 5 to 8 years to develop and drill for oil at a new site.

For the short term we need to reduce the number of blends. There only needs to be 6 blends. 87 summer/winter, 94 summer/winter, and 2 more just for fun. Currently we have about 45 different specialized blends of gas.

OMG I had no clue we had so many different kind? I also agree that was just a chain letter that did absolutely nothing to gas prices. I'd laugh if they raised the prices higher for the next few days cuz they know everyone would have to fill up sooner or later.

Those gas bans dont work. If they say dont buy gas on the 15th everyone is going to buy on the 16th. Let just hope E85 comes in to play more. If that happens then the big oil companies will realized they dont have a monoply anymore.

When we all don't buy gas for a day or week, it'll just hurt the gas station or the oil company that refines the oil. Not the Saudies.

The reason is that the company purchase the oil from them, we don't buy it directly. If don't buy gas for a day, the gas will still be the day afterward and nothing will happen.

the gas ban only works if you dont buy from a single source...lets say mobil stations. if no one buys from mobil for lets use a month, Mobil will have to lower their prices to keep up with sales. Thats when you buy gas from them, which in turn forces the other stations down to compete with whomever we boycotted..in this case Mobil... for the last month.

its not an exact science, but things only have a chance to work if they are done properly
