Oil Change- dealership or not?
Oil Change- dealership or not?
Wanted to know your opinions on oil changes and taking it to the dealership with mods.
Should I worry about converting things back to stock (such as a cone filter) for the oil change? Will they record it and screw me over later?
In other words, does the dealership record mods on sight or only when confronted for warranty work?

I would prefer to have the reciepts when my car is stock again
looking for other input, I know I could do it my self, but I'm not taking that route
plus they do more things than just oil change such as rotate tires, etc.

nevermind, that wasn't my point. I know that I want to take it to the dealership... but I'm asking if anyone knows if they record it when a mod is found in some sort of database or if only look for mods when you take it in for warranty work (not service)
Do it yourself. It shouldn't take you more than like 20 min. Just make sure to keep a record book of all your oil changes along with the receipts for the oil filter and oil purchased. If the dealership does try to pull something, you'll need those logs and receipts.
I would be less worried about the voided warrenty (which they will 95% likely do) than the techs abusing the car. Heck, after the techs get a hold of it and thrash it around the block a few times, you'll probably need the warrenty.
Just keep the reciepts of the oil and filter purchase, write down the dates on the reciepts because they fade, and keep a log book if you want to be that detailed about it. I don't trust the dealer to do anything. They might not change the filter, put in too little oil, put in too much, forget the oil cap (happened to a friend), or even just forget to put oil back in (happened to someone else I know).
