Strongly considering selling my Evo... Need advice
Well, I never thought in a billion years that I would be saying this, but I may be selling my Evo in the near future.
I came home from a 1 year in Japan super-excited to get this thing and drive it for the next few years while I went to law school and keep it until I ran it into the ground...
unfortunately, my emotions have gotten the better of me and I realize now that I am just not ready to go back to school for 3 years and give up some of the best and most important years of my life just so i can get a job that pays well..
The truth is I miss Japan like crazy and I think I'm going to move there permanently. I truly feel that it is the place where I am most happy and I'm literally aching to get back.
Of course I love my Evo and I still think it is a miracle of engineering so as soon as I get enough money I'll get another one in Japan, but now I'm faced with a very bitter reality... and that is that the car must go...
So now I ask honestly, if you were to consider selling your Evo IX MR, would you do it now before the release of the X? Or, would you wait until the X comes out, knowing it is going to be a completely different car and may leave a lot of people disappointed, and then sell the IX?
I'm so sad to be even writing this, but I have to do what makes me the most happy in life... I am researching under a famous lawyer/professor at harvard right now and I"m around some very amazing people and everyone is telling me the same thing... "Do what makes you happy".
So... off to Japan I go...
by the way, anyone who wants to see my pics and blog while I was there can check it out here

Please give me your ideas guys (on the car, as I have already made the decision to move to Japan).

Why you're looking through a blog with the intention of finding men is a question for another thread at another time.

I was guessing that you were the dorky white guy that only wanted to go back japan because he could only get attention from the woman there. I was wrong. But by all means go back to Japan or stay in Cananda
Sell it now. I dont think it will hold too much value when x comes out.
Good luck in japan. I also love japan.
btw What are you going to do in Japan? Teach english?
Japan is one expensive place.

I say keep it. and ship it.
You'll lose "almost" more money selling it, then you would just to ship it to Japan.. lol just my .02 but what do i know..
Do what you gotta do.

I had the best time of my life while studying in Japan. Its one great place to be and I wish you the best. You can always study law later but you are only young once.
I am actually considering selling my Evo again because of all the business travelings. However, this is my 3rd Evo and it seem like I can stay away from it so I don't know if it make sense to lose it all, fun and money. Anyhow if I were you, post up your car now before the X come out. People usually get excited about new things so the IX market will collapse when a bunch of us decide to sell ours to get the new model. The X "might" perform better or not, no one know yet therefore I wouldn't bet on getting more money by waiting. Also, it might take awhile to find a good buyer.

Joon: I will most likely do english teaching during the day and work at a bar or club at night because I want to be speaking Japanese as much as possible. If I can find a job at a company that would be even better.
Japan is actually very affordable if you know how to live/where to live. I don't plan on living in Tokyo, nor to I really like it that much over there.
ams: Trust me I'll be partying, and I already know the language. I have tons of friends and contacts over there as well. I have a few really good business ideas that could be extremely lucrative, but I have to be over there for them to materialize. Believe me I don't want to sell my car, but if I could choose between riding a bicycle through Kyoto or driving my car through the traffic of LA or Toronto I would choose Kyoto in a heartbeat...
SICK9: I know people are nuts for USDM cars over there, but I just don't know how big they would be on a left hand drive Evo that doesn't perform as well. Not only that I would have no place to keep it. So shipping just isn't an option...
Tom: Thanks for the advice. I am making payments on the car now too so it just doesn't make sense to wait. I'll put it up soon...
I'm glad there are other people who love Japan as much as I do

Good luck man. I spent two weeks in Japan last month and felt the same way. I was so impressed with Japan (People, way of life, food, etc), I considered selling my all my assets in the states and move over there. I think I may just try to spend more time there for now rather than moving.
Good luck with whatever you choose. Japan is really nice

I haven't even started thinking about it >.<
I'm not sure about what a good price is but it's a ww IX MR with 20k miles and the mods are as follows:
Jun BL cat-back
compustar alarm
sub/amp/component speakers in the front and alpine HU
3 defi gauges w/ control unit
Swift springs
Advan RCIIs gold 18" w/ 245/40/18 tires
stubby antenna
k&N filter
yellow fogs
That's about it I think.
The body is in excellent condition except for a little scrap on the lip and on one of the side mirrors.
Mechanically the car runs perfectly and it has had the oil changed every 3000 miles or sooner if felt necesary. All fluids changed etc. Broken in properly too
ECU has not been touched so it is still under warranty!
