RPM Meter Acting Up When Shifting..

Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone of you know what might be wrong... When I shift the RPM meter takes a 2 to 3 second delay before it drops when it's suppose to drop immediately right when you shift. Anyone know what the problem might be? I heard something pop one day while driving on a freeway n thought it was one of the spark plugs but I was wrong... it probably might be the wires that connect to the RPM meter or something in that area that popped... Should I just take it to the dealer and ask them what's wrong? I need some help PLEASE!! Thanks guys I appreciate it a lot.

I think I know what you're talking about. You might be hitting the clutch like less than a second too early so it revs out a barely noticeable bit. Happened when I first got my car cause it was my first standard. Havent seen that in a good bit though and she's still going strong on 50k stock clutch.

It's rev hang, I think there have been one or two really long threads about the issue, last I checked (about 3 months ago) the issue had not been resolved, at least not permanently. Methods had been suggested but no one method seemed to be a universal fix. They suggested everything from the ECU to a weak throttle body spring to driver's not being used to DBW.

I have it on my car, it's not a big issue and I have accepted the ECU answer. It seems to affect cars of other makes as well, like the new Civic Si.
