i own an evo 8 i love it...but i really would rather have an evo 5. i thought that i could sell my wifes car and hand over the keys to the 8 and buy myself a evo 5 but were would i even import one from the place i go through for my shop never has them and all they do have is the 4, but i would love to own a 5...

 

I think it is the same case as choosing VIII from VII, VIII and IX. Interms of performance, IX>VIII>VII, also VI>V>IV, which is hard facts and no one can argue. However, interms of looks, general trend is that people prefer IV and VI over V, and VII and IX over VIII. Basically VI is superior car to V in everyway which means it has much better market while costing about the same as V when shipped to the states. But for IV, it has no wheel arch flares, and has orange blinkers, has really nice looking double 6-spoke wheel stock as well too and some people prefer these features over V and VI's.
Don't forget, people shopping for pre VIII EVO are not shopping for bang for the buck, its purely for novelty and looks. Also the performance difference is almost non existant, especially when they plan on modding them.

 

I was thinking of importing a pre Evo VIII myself but it's to much headaches in the long run.
