^ Yup i would be leary of this, I used to work at car dealerships detailing when i was younger. i never sold anything but I developed good relationships with the sales people and they would rip people off and tell them ANYTHING to sell a car. Its do or die working for commissions and they need to make a buck so they truely dont care about you. Be careful

If you are 100% sure you want that car, I'd find one of us guys on the forums in the area to check it out before sending that much $$$
WELL SAID

I have never bought a car from eBay before. I almost did but it turn out to be a scam so I'm thankful that I call WesternUnion and they told me not to send the money. I would double check and talk to him on the phone too to make sure it's real. There are bad crooks out there

Watch out for the mods, but they seem pretty tame. Don't avoid the 6speed, you say you want 12's on the track, the 6sp tranny will take that no problem. Now if you tell us you want to run 9's on the track (quite possible for evos), you definitely want the 5sp. IMO, the 6sp feels SO much better than the 5. PM Mitchubishi, good friend of mine who is on the fence for trading his SE for an MR. He loves meh car.

#1 This is probably the biggest BS line any person is going to give you. Just look below \/\/\/\/

There are mods done... INJEN Upper IC pipe, INJEN lower IC pipe, INJEN intake, INJEN catback... BIG concern here... Are there any big problems with these mods for the ecu etc??
#2 If this guy was such an "old man" then why would the car be modded?

It is in Texas so id pay for it to be ground shipped here to NJ...
#3 Work the shipping into the deal its a dealer and they are going to make a boat load ANY WAY you look at it to ship it to you will not cost them over $5-700
I swear almost every EvoM user must sweep floors at the local McDonalds...

#1 Do a carfax, easiest thing in the world, and you can see who owned it. Chances are he's telling the truth. Its like with my car, the dealer said it was only owned by two other people, some lady in Texas for the first few years, she put normal mileage on it, and then a guy in Idaho who was a doctor and supposedly never drove it... Okay cool, did a CarFax, guess what, in the 5 years the doctor owned it he put like 5k miles on it. CarFax reports are a wonderful thing.

#2 It was the SECOND owner that did the Injen mods (from my understanding)... Not the old man... But just because it was an old man doesn't mean anything about how the car was treated, I won't let my dad near my Porsche, he'll kick the **** out of it trying to drive it.

#3 It isn't a dealer, its some guy selling it, all of you guys talking trash about how the dealer is scamming then its the dealer that scammed the current owner not trying to scam someone new.

#4 He hasn't had a tune, that sucks major, but Injen makes great quality parts, I loved my Injen TBE till the day I sold the Evo (and its still my favorite Evo exhaust).

#5 You made the right choice in passing anyway, 14k miles, 28k price... Not worth it. 28k is how much I paid NEW for my '03 (Mitsu friends and family discount ftw!)

Edit: I would also like to add that GOOD sales people really do care about you. Nothing loses more money than losing repeat/referral business, especially for car sales. The really skilled sales people will become your best friend, sure, they might leave out some "details," but that doesn't mean they're out to screw you over and make a buck. If it were me I'd rather make 50 cents instead of a buck with the knowledge that I will probably be making 50 cents off that same person for a long time, rather than just one quick buck and the person will never be back.

No, I don't work at McDonalds but thanks for asking, and thanks for unnecessary insult. No offense to McD's workers...

#1 Carfax is easy to pull but it won't tell you if there has been an accident if they did the work at a shop not going through insurance, so yeah if it was me I would check the car out first.

#2 "But just because it was an old man doesn't mean anything about how the car was treated, I won't let my dad near my Porsche, he'll kick the **** out of it trying to drive it."

Very true. I read his OP about this a little too quick it may have been the "old man" who modded it or the seller. Either way I wouldn't drive it without a tune even though it runs rich from the factory and it is probably running at a better A/F ratio since its "breathing" better...

#3 I was simply saying that the dealer tell you things sometimes and they are almost never true which would then be passed onto the current owner, then to the prospective buyer. Your particular situation may be an exception. Bottom line Buy BEWARE IMO.

#4 Agreed

#5 http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/Pric...uizConditions=

Again, IMO not a bad price for the car considering they don't make it anymore and it has mods already. If it runs like a champ I would say he is coming out ahead. Also you think it's too much when your forgetting your own comment "Mitsu friends and family discount ftw".
