Did anyone try to down grade to something more affordable and end up keeping the evo

yesterday i was trying to see what kind of car will would be more affordable when in
terms of monthly payment since my son will be born 2 months from now.. so i end up test driving a 06 nissan sentra se-r spec V... I drove one of my friends maybe 2 years ago and i really liked it i thought it was faster and has quick acceleration than my prelude but maybe it just have a different feel to it..

I'm really not impressed on how the car looks.. its a 4 door sedan easy to put a baby car seat.. the car itself is light weight.. after test driving it.. It made me realize how ****ty the car was and thought to myself that I'm in troube coz i don't think there's any car out there that i would want to trade my evo with unless if i have to force myself to..

What cars did you guys test drive? I want a 4 door sedan.. I'm not looking for something as fast as an evo but maybe decent in speed, reliability and affordable

i don't think you can go wrong with an accord or a camry - the camry is real spacious, doesn't look bad neither...

Those choices are definately not more affordable than an evo.

More affordable in what way? The cost of the actual car? You're pretty much screwed. Camry, accord, there are a few others but nothing that will even compare. If it were me, and I was sticking below 25k, I'd buy the best accord I could get with the 25k.

See Sig <<<<<<<<<<<<<<

The Mazdaspeed 3 is not a sedan, It's a hatchback, but you forget about that when you floor it. And it's under $25K.

Evo = Weekend car.
Mazdaspeed = Daily Driver.

Mazdaspeed 3. Cheaper than the Evo, fast, 4 doors, and a sleeper.

And this helps him in what way?

Subaru has a lease special (in MI) for the 5 speed Impreza, $199.00 a month

I purchased my EVO as a 3rd "family car" after my first daughter was born..........you could always refinance the car.

Good job NOT getting the SpecV. The QR25DE is a ticking time bomb, it has precat and butterfly screw issues among many other problems. Here's an article I wrote at b15sentra.net:

In your situation I would look for a used WRX if you need to lower your monthly payment and require the practicality of a four door sedan.

Im kinda in the same boat. Looking to get out of my current monthly note and onto a less monthly note. After looking around, Im only going to save about 100 bucks a month. The cars that I was looking at are S4, R32, GTI VR6, mazdaspeed3. I think these are the only cars that can satisfy my 'next' car. These car are not that much cheaper that what Im paying for the EVO.

I think if I can hold on to the car for another 6-9 months then I will keep my car. If I cant then Im going to sell my car and not have a car for another 6 months so I can start saving again.

Hope that helps. good luck with your decision.

I bought a VW GLI for my wife and it's awesome. Cheaper than the evo, but still very fun in stock form. Makes 300tq (crank) with just a chip if you're looking for something a little extra down the line, and it gets 34mpg on the freeway.
