EVO X at SD Car Show

Hey Folks, was at the San Diego International Car show on the 26th, and they had the New EVO X there amongst other greats (GT-R, STi) and I have pics but the res is high so I cant post them here. You know, its a nice looking car no doubt, and I noticed a different crowd this time around the Evo. No longer the Younger crowd, I saw Parents looking at the Car like "what is that". I mean the last few car shows those same "parents" just walked right by the Evo IX. So from a marketing sense, Mits is doing what they intended. Attract a larger audience. This will indeed sell more cars, but you lose the cult following. The car has it all, Dual Clutch Auto, Nav, Trick Sus, AWD all the bells and whistles, but at a cost at $40,000+ for the MR fully loaded, they are pricing out the common guy. Which is us here on this board. I paid allot less than $40K for my IX MR, and without a doubt this new EVO is very very nice, but I could never afford one. So Mits, Goodluck to ya....but I am keeping my IX unless it falls apart first, haha.

40k for a fully loaded MR? Are you serious? F that then, tell all those people you know in the newer "target" audience (those "parents") to buy a 335i instead

Wow, 40k + for a X MR? And thats without the "gotta have it" dealer markup. The car isnt absurd anymore, in a bad way. It looks really mean and polished but it doesn't have that quirky, super econobox, charm i love about my car. I wonder what the base model would run.

the official MSRP on the X is $34k for the GSR & $39 for the MR before options like the technology pkg, etc...

my post

sorry I didn't give better pricing...from what I was hearing from the reps at the car show is this...2 models only..GSR (base) and MR. GSR 5 spd only pricing 33K to 35K...main option being NAV....MR 37K to 40K option being NAV and stereo options..MR 6 spd auto only...so if you want an X MR with nav your looking at 40K plus tax...but we will see huh? I know in the Jan 2008 issue of motor trend they have a price of 35500 est on their base GSR test mule...thing is I just can't afford a new Evo...plus I really like the simplicity of the IX. no fancy gagets or trinkets...just fun to drive...the new X is beautiful and is a great car...but it makes no financial sense for me to get one...
