Downsides of not having a front crash beam?

I'm not running one... it wasn't on when I bought the car used.

Pros: less weight, more aire hitting the top of the intercooler

Cons: less protection for your front end if you get in a front end collision... but even so you're pretty screwed anyways right? Seems like the front crash beam would only help if you're going 5mph...

Your thoughts?

its been covered before but here it is again. If u dont have a crash beam on and u get into a front end colission, the insurance wont pay for the damages. so better get one asap

Just pick one up from a scrapyard from an EVO who has had a front collision and tell the insurance company it fell off in the crash

The crash beams purpose is to distribute the impact across a larger area and therefore decrease overall damage to the vehicle and chance for passenger injury. Look at this comparison ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3ygYUYia9I

I wonder what people with aftermarket front bumpers are doing. That front crash beam sure as hell doesn't fit with the Ings one.

Your car will sustain a hell of a lot more damage w/o one.Plus you could get injured more so than you would of if you had the crash beam on the car if you get into a wreck.

Someone had theirs modified to fit with an after market bumper. I remember reading the thread recently.

If your car is lowered , front crash beam is useless anyways..
