Launching off 2 step tires breaking free!

So the other night i launched the car off two 2 step with a buddy of mine in the car, this is the first time with the ACT steet cluch installed which has about 10k on it..the car got a little sideways before i shifted secontd gear. I feel like this is not normal for the mods i have. Im rolling on good tire with plent of tread. I bought the car modded and have always wondered if it was cammed due to a rough idel and the tendency to want to stall when letting off the gas and appling the brakes. could it be possible that the car is cammed and it runs ok without being tuned for them? All comments welcome and appriciated.

Um...sure.

Get a tune. Not smart to roll around without one. And the evo is just to easy to get a tune for it.

The other night it was 9 degrees outside. I launched off the 2-step & pretty much created an AWD burnout.. the car was barely even going forward & once it did, it drifted into the on-coming lane. Scary!

Well when you got tuned by TTP did you send them logs so they could tweak your tune, or did they just get a list of mods and give you a base flash? New clutch, cold pavement, cold tires=spin.

I have a TTP flash but it is not tunned for cams. Would after market cams have any notable features such as a company logo of sorts on them. Im thinking of doing a visable inspection of the cams....

Base flash...i lost the logging cable for my lm-1wideband so no tweaks were made. I plan on having Sean Ivey tune the car, but i wanted to cam the car first.....but if it is cammed already i dont need to go and buy any. It has sumitoto tires on it which came on the car.

lets see, in your sig you have a HKS BOV. that alone would cause your car to stall when letting off the gas. A basic BPU Evo with a good clutch should break a lil free when launching

No your rough idle and stalling is probably caused by the "HKS DV" which is ssqv which is junk.

HKS cams have their logo on theirs, I don't know about other companies. But, my Evo wants to stall when I let go of the gas and I have a recirc. greddy bov.

It seems normal. Mine does it all the time. A friend with an 8 can do it. I guess it moves sideways is because no limited slip in the front(?).

Dag. You're complaining about being able to break traction?

it probably has alot to do with the fact that your tires were cold, if you had just started driving it. Nothing to be worried about, unless it is cammed and not tuned...just be careful and dont let it slide into on-coming traffic, or worse damn near off of a 20 ft "cliff" into a creek, like my buddy almost did in his STi on cold tires...

I love my car when the tires are cold and the engine and transmission are warm. It's easy to break all four loose with no launch at all. Once they're warm, the back end is the only thing I can get to step out a bit on hard acceleration (no clutch drop of 2-step trickery). That's stock power but on Kuhmo Ecsta MX tires.

I spin at the track all the time. It depends on many factors in my case ... mainly cold Advans and ~13psi on the launch that jumps to about 26psi when the clutch grabs.
