trust me, usually i dun like bringing up rumors and commenting on whats there and whats not, but this bothers me

The Evo's 2.0-liter turbocharged and intercooled inline four is expected to put out "over 250 horsepower," according to Mitsubishi representatives at the show. A five-speed manual gearbox and all-wheel drive will send the power to the 235/45R17 Yokohamas. Brembo disc brakes, sporting four-piston calipers and 14-inch rotors up front and two-piston calipers and 12-inch rotors out back, as well as antilock technology, should be up to the formidable task of arresting all that kinetic energy.
i mean it sounds like a reasonable article, not something with outrageous claims of "whopping 350+ HP" but... check this 14 and 12 inch brake rotors! wussup with that? i mean where did they come up with that? hey someone just slap me and remind me its just a website puttin up unconfirmed rumors... but.... 14 and 12? i'm dyin over here

Last I heard, 17" up front - and 16" in the rears...
Again, this all rumor tho...no need to get your panties in a twist. Just wait for the full release of info from Mitsubishi.
Mitsubishi has said that they are trying to transfer the Evo 7 to the states as close to the JDM/Euro model as possible - makes sense, keeps costs down on their part.
I'd expect the brake specs to be nearly the same as the current foreign Evo7 specs....

How does a caliper on a 17" rotor fit into a 17" wheel? Does that not make sense to anyone else? 
It seems to me the 14" and 12" are the sizes of the rotors themselves. That makes sense to me at least. Either that or I just don't get how they measure brake rotor sizes.

I know the Japanese spec version EVO on the pdf file said the EVO has 17" Brembos. However they certainly can not be refering to the brake rotor since the wheels are 17".

Hobie and 1stinline, you're absolutely rite, 17" rotors cant fit in 17" rims and 14" sounds like the ACTUAL physical diameter of the rotor, its just Mitsubishi had always promoted the Brembos on the Evo as 17" up front and 16" back in their official brochures and stuff, so i wonder why the change in wording.

the evo always had 14 inch and 12 inch rotors...check everywehre thats what it says...that pdf file is just a typo...someone wasnt paying attention. you gotta be real clueless if you think it actually has 17 inch rotors...

Do Lemans race cars even have 17" brakes? I don't think they do. Maybe though. 
This brake issue has been discussed before on these forums. As others have said, the Evo's brakes are approx 14" up front and 12" in the rear. The minimum size wheels required to work with these brakes are 17" up front and 16" in the rear.

The Evo VII has 12.1" front rotors and 9.5" rear rotors. This is the GSR model with Brembos. This is typical for a car in the $25,000-$35,000 price range. We are not talking super car brakes here. A 300Z 90 and up did not come with 13" rotors. They were around 10.5" on the front and 11.5" on the rear with 16" rims. 12.5" is pretty much the maximum rotor size that can fit in a 17" wheel. For comparison, a 96 and up 3000 VR4 runs a 12.5"x1.25" front rotor.
You can cry all you want about what Mitsubishi publishes...what your friend told you...what you read in a magazine...
You read the cold hard facts right here.

hey, and even the RS has bigger rotors than 12s, you should do your homework before trying to slap people, it just makes u look stupid.

I think other countries measure brake sizes differently. I am looking at an old(April 1999 Edition) CAR magazine(a UK car publication for those who do not know) and there is a Honda ad with Alex Zanardi promoting the Accord Type-R. In the caption it reads, "The new Accord Type-R, with 16" disc brakes,..." When it first saw that years ago I had a good laugh. Now that I see the Mitsubishi .pdf file saying the EVO has 17" brakes makes me wonder if other countries measures brakes differently. Anyone have any solid information on this?

I dunno bean...I printed out the .pdf file, and im looking at it now. As far as i can see its dependent on the tire. For the 235/45ZR17's 17" front and 16" rear. For the 205/65R15 94H's 15" by 15". I know it sounds crazy but ****...thats strait from

You are correct the 300z TT did not come with 13" rotors, my bad. they came with 11" front and 11.8" rear.
