Basically you have 2 considerations when choosing a turbo.
1) Cost of the build to support it
2) The powerband you "need" or "want"
It should go without saying that if you get a larger turbo then the effective range of that turbo goes upward in the RPM band. So the question is really what do you intend to do with a turbo? Road Race? Drag? both?
Realize immediately that a turbo is literally a compromise between power and response. If your going to power you sacrifice response and visa versa. There are some very nice middle of the road turbos which have little to sacrifice like the FP Red for example but they will be walked down the road all things being equal by a larger turbo.
You should ask questions like these about the turbo you want:
1) Can my fuel system send enough fuel to the engine with this turbo
2) Will my internals explode at the power levels i'm asking of it
3) Will my ignition system blow out under the boost pressure
4) Will my clutch handle the torque increase
5) Is my cooling system up to the job
6) Is my engine management system enough to make good use of the turbo
7) Who will tune the car to the turbo's potential
