questions about weight saving for drag racing.

I remember when I had my srt, removing my passenger seat gave me a consistant like 2 mph on drag.

Also, the seats in the rear are easy as heck to remove..

Is it worth removing the passenger seat and rear seats just for track days? Does it save a lot of weight on an evo? IDC about being a street car as I don't use my car anywhere else but as a daily driver (for one more week) and for the track.

ALLLLL I CARE ABOUT is trapping 110 mph. Thats allllll I want before this season is over. I'll do anything to hit that with the mods I have... not adding any more power mods till new turbo.

Rear seats def not, it weighs maybe 2 pounds. If you're really serious about it, then maybe.

Yeah, the seats will help, but also the battery, stock exhaust and unnecessary electronics (stereo equipment, A/C, etc.) add a lot of weight in an Evo. Removing them will hurt your daily drivability though.

Unfortunatly the only place the evo will be able to go is the track in about a week or 2.. so any weight I can save would be great.. I REALLLLYYYY want 110 traps. Don't care about times right now because I'm on stock clutch. I've been dying to trap over 110 since may of 2006.. that was my last time racing a car and I have been on a mental mission ever since! If I beat that (granted its not THAT high of a trap speed) It would probably make me the happiest person ever...

not racing for 2 years FTL :-( It's been killing me every since may of 06 to race.

actually unit now my weight savings include:

18 pounds from lighter rims
19 pounds from lighter rotors
20 pounds from ams and buschur support bars
40 pounds from trunk stuff
Also have lighter exhaust, small battery kit, alum ic pipes, I could also remove crash bars to save another 30 pounds and so on....

You can do many things without gutting the car....

shouldnt be too hard. i trapped 114 with my mods and full weight. you will most def save a few pounds by taking that stuff out. like spare tire and what not. also take your wing off. you might be a few mph on the top end.

Thats crazy, do you live in high altitude? I've hit 109 with an exhaust, mbc, and tune only. I have sparco seats and no spare tire.

i would just go out there and work for a full weight pass and try to trap 110, work on your driving skills, then close to the end of the season if your not there then start removing things like seats

Take your spare out, and a small battery kit would be good. maybe light set of wheels or such. goodluck. and let us know how it goes.
