I'm giving away the evo...

God, I wish I could afford to... this is going to sound stupid, but my car f***in hates me. There is ALWAYS something wrong, or breaking no matter what. I go to buschur to pick up my car, everything is fine for the first 50 miles. I look down and all of a sudden my temp gauge is THROUGH THE ROOF. I pull off and call buschur, they tell me to come back. After a 45 minute drive BACK to buschur I figure out that the fan attachment popped off. (I would like to thank everyone at buschur for hanging around past time to leave and helping me out. I really appreciate it, especially Dan for everything else lol). So, I get home and everything is fine until I pull into the drive, as soon as I do the check engine light comes on . When ever I'm on the highway and go above 80 the car pulls to the left quite a lot and vibrates horribly. So I took it to the mitsu dealer to have them align it and balance the tires. After that everything is good for about a day, then the vibration and pull problem comes back...are you freaking kidding. I love my evo, I try to keep it happy by always keepin her filled up and clean and have my oil changes at 3000mi no matter what. I seriously think my car hates me...

It's definetly more expensive to own our cars than most. It helps to be able to work on your car a little bit yourself....to diagnose random crap that happens. Im suprised you brought it to the dealer for alignment....their must be a place near you for much cheaper than them. Also, if your that close to Buschur I wouldn't be to upset with anything....most people in this country are jealous of your proximity to those guys for sure.

Welcome to my hell. I drive like an old man who's super **** about maintenance and care. I've been rewarded with 3 blown engines (just spun another main bearing), a bad trans, 2 dead turbos, and a battery drain issue that I can't track down to save my life. This latest batch of issues will cost me over $3000 and a ton of my own labor to fix.

I live 2.5 hours away from buschur..that's 5 hours round trip. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate being able to bring my car there.. but I don't see that being real close lol

They generally don't. Most people I know with and 8 or 9 have a good bit of reliability, transmission aside. I ended up with a string of bad luck because one thing snowballed into another. I bought it knowing 5th gear grinded, and ended up with a series of misfortunes that led to the problems. I'm rebuilding the engine and trans from the ground up this time to ensure I start with a new platform and probably a GT35R or similar. That should fix it for good. I came from several heavily modded and built DSM's over a 10 year stretch so reliability is a foreign term to me.

Well in my past experience with the 4g63 it always seemed like ones one thing broke the engine will go down the line to the next weakest thing.

It just comes with modding the Evo it seems. I can't really biatch about my car breaking when I've put parts on it that bring it to a level it was not engineered to be at.

In this case, it may be due to beating on the car like a pinata. Whenever I see threads like this, I look at the complainant(s) past threads. Usually the reasons become readily apparent.

I got you FJF, Personally I believe that one kinda follows the other. I know I did'nt heavily mod my car to baby it around town. However, If one is not in tune with what their car is telling them, needs service, alignment, tires whatever they will probably not have a good relationship with their car.

my boy has the same problem

i think his car was built on a friday or something, he has 40,000 miles on it and he has to replace the motor, deal with the trans, and suffer a head gasket failure. Mine has 110,000 miles on it, and has never had a problem. I have to replace the turbo now because it's starting to walk, but damn.

Ouch.

One or two of the local guys have had some issues like that ... one of them being a very responsible driver. I just think that some cars are very very pissed off for one reason or another when they come from the factory, and unfortunatly some of them direct that towards the driver.

I think it all comes down to how we drive our Evo that's causing a lot of issues
