how fast is your spool up?

i have a ix with afew mods and i am going too get it tuned soon.Well personally i come from haveing built turbo vdubs and use to get 23lbs of boost around 2200 rpms.Well i like the low to mid range power alot better then when it is all up top.My goal is to cut my spool up time down big time.Does anyone have a tuned where they asked specifically for low to mid range power with mods to support a quicker spool up time? If so do you have any dyno sheets and how fast do you get full spool?

23psi at 3-3200rpms on 92 Octane. Went to a Dyno Day a week after this graph was produced. Air temps were a bit cooler. Hit 23 PSI at 3k on 92 Octane.

For whom is concerned about numbers. A month prior I was making 330WHP on a mustang dyno. With the tune displayed on the graph below I picked up more top end and torque. The owner of the shop with the Mustang dyno estimates that I would make about 340-350whp and 330-340wtq on his dyno now.

Mods:
AEM Short Ram Intake
AMS MBC
ARP Head Studs
Buschur LICP
Cosworth 272's
Cosworth Head Gasket
DC Sports DP
Greddy Ti-C
PTE 1000's (E85 tune was planned)
Walbro 255

You should specify 3rd gear or 4th gear pull too ...

24 psi @ 3200 RPM
4th gear
ECU boost control
stock cams
cone filter
stock pipes
3.5" FMIC
Megan exhaust mani (modified - ALS ports blocked off)
tubular O2
3" TBE

I picked up about 200 RPM spool time by modifying the manifold. It was suggested by a local fabricator. It now spools like the stock manifold and still gives the top end benefits.

Here is an older DLL graph in 4th. Since then I've added a Perrin BCS and upped the WGDC in the low end which reduced spool even further.

Maybe you should read...

This tune was done on a Dyno Dynamics. People and your dyno numbers. You should maybe do a search and realize that Dyno Dynamics reads far lower than your braggings rights Dyno Jet.

Sorry, 3rd gear pull.

If you really want to cut your spool time, you need more displacement. BR 2.3l on a stock IX turbo, that thing will spool.

Our MR is fully spooled at idle. There is no value to this thread so I thought we would add to it.

Spool is a result of turbo size, camshafts and engine VE. You don't "tune" a stock turbo evo for more or less low end or more or less top end. IT IS WHAT IT IS...

Proper tuning will spool the turbo. AFRs and Timing effect how the car responds.

heres a screen shot of one of my logs.

33psi. by 3567RPM. 4th gear log....

so does this mean i win?

P.S. this is a stock Evo 9 turbo, and GSC 272s. Both block and head have 76k and counting.... 33psi daily

I can sort of agree with this ... spool is MOSTLY based on the mechanical setup. But, the OP knows that and mentioned having parts to aid in spool and low end torque.

You can modify the EFI to aid in spool up, but it's usually part of the basic tune you'll get anyway. The AFR and timing can help the turbo spool faster. As I mentioned, tuning the WGDC can also help, but most people use MBCs which negate this option.
