Evo VIII MR or new Civic Si?
the choice is yours. you may pay more for a new car now, but will save $$ for a few years until something needs to be fixed .. or you can buy a used car now and continually dish out $$ for things that have to be fixed.
from a pure driving perspective, the evo takes the cake. from a practical perspective, the civic.
Honestly for that price and milage, I'd get a brand new Honda because you're going to save a lot in insurance especially at your age too. Get the Honda and save your money until you turn 25 then you can decide if you want the Evo
i personally have this thing against civics. CIvics SI = a civic with a sticker SI on it. I hate civics and civics have really bad rep. if you care about reps then civic is definitely not the way to go. However, stuff like rep only reflects in some area. (Whispers) Don't get the civic.... =)
I would suggest the civic if you're only 17. Not only is the evo a lot of car for a young driver but it's expensive to maintain properly especially if you start to modify it. What's going to happen when you want to move out but have a car that costs a small fortune to maintain, repair, insure, etc? Moreover, at this point in your life, you don't need performance, you need reliability, safety and fuel efficiency. Wait until your old enough to pay for the entire car (including insurance and bills) before you go for a sports car.
Amen bro listen to him he's right on the money... evo's are a real strain on the pocket book. and especially if ur 17 i think the SI may even be too much of a car for u. but thats just my opinion. start somewhere with like an integra and work ur way up... i had and accord then and integra then a RSX type-s, and finally my EVO IX.

as much as it sucks to hear it, most everyone here is right. skip the evo for now, ESPECIALLY that one, 88k?!?! No way. I honestly wouldn't even get the NEW civic. I wouldnt have bought my EVO new had there been a choice of used RS's in 04 lol. Cars are the worst investment you can make. That 22k civic SI is gonna be worth like 19k in 1 year, and it only keeps going down.
I know many people feel the rivalry, but why not go check out a WRX? You can get one for your price range with very little miles on it, get cheaper insurance (SLIGHTLY) and have lower payments, plus turbo and AWD.
Option #3, get neither, get a job and start saving mad cash and wait for the Lancer RA to come out in a few months. AWD, Turbo, non-evo payments/insurance, but EVO looks and a MUUUUUUUCH more reasonable power level for a teenager to handle.

I wouldn't recommend a WRX as a first car, granted it's not as wild as an evo or an STI but it's still too much for a first time driver. There are times when my car scares the crap out of me and even though I have 5 years on the OP, I'm still paying close to 3000$ for insurance and my monthly gas bill is close to 300$.
Save money where you can. A fast car is almost always an expensive one.
I feel bad daily driving my Evo. WAY too much money for that. I'm saving up for a beater to throw miles onto. Given, Evos are reliable with high mileage, but you must maintain it and they can be money pits if you drive it 30K miles a year like I do.

18 own an evo and love it.
But I mean i have saved up a lot of money for this car which really helped.
had almost 10,000 to put down so im doing rather good money wise.
insurance is cheap for me only 120 a month.
Gas isnt that bad if i dont drive it like a speed racer constantly. Im usually getting 20-22 mpg. stop go traffic occassional boost.
I do understand why people are telling u to get an si tho.
But if you can afford an evo get an evo you wont regret it but please dont get that one. I bought my 60,000 mile evo for only 17,900.
I really dont think evos are that hard to mantain but I guess im kind of lucky because i get free services done on my car. (mechanic friends help out a lot)

at your age take the New Civic Si. Its still fun to drive plus and you get a warranty. 20k for a car w 88k miles on it is too much. Civic Si w 2 miles is better for your situation.
