Emissions w/ rear O2 delete mod
I've been trying to get my emissions done recently and my car keeps getting rejected. The 1st time I had just had my car re-tuned and had thrown a CEL, but it went away and of course the ECU wasn't ready after just a few miles, but now it's been over a hundred miles or so and I went back today and it said it was still rejected due to the cat. monitor and O2 not being ready. I do have the rear O2 delete mod done through the ECU and was curious if anyone here has this mod and was able to pass emissions this year (2008). The reason I ask is because I heard they updated the software for this year and that may have a problem with this.

Regardless I think my rear O2 is fried. I know someone that will "pass" me for $90 bucks, but I had to do that with my old 240sx and I don't want to have to keep doing that with the Evo. Basically I'm trying to find out if it will pass with the rear O2 delete mod, so I can save money before I go through all the hassle of removing the mod from the ECU, buying a new rear O2 sensor and then installing it.
Buy 2 antifouler plugs, put them in and viola! O2 readiness pass and you don't even have to use the stock cat.
BTW, the rear O2 mod in the ECU is pretty lame considering it takes 2 mins to screw the anti-foulers on and call it a day.

Nobody is reading the question. If I remember correctly you have to undo the O2 delete mod and reinstall the O2 sensor. I cant find it now, but I ampretty sure Tephra said it wont pass because the internal test will never be "ready" undo the mod install the stock O2 sensor and stock cat. Go to www.aktivematrix.com and download "Scantech" you can use the software to see if the car is ready to smog.

Well, the test needs to complete, not sure if the patch disables it and its listed as never completed (and will always fail)
If the patch works the way I remember, it should complete though, however the heater circuit must still be working or it will always fail anyway. I think there's a post on using a resistor to replace the heater, or you can reinstall the stock sensor if the heater circuit still works, and use it only for that.
I'm also assuming your talking OBD-II only.. as your car will fail any visual inspection if the obvious components are missing, or you live in a state where visual modifications make the inspector suspicious as the ultimate pass/fail is at the inspectors discretion anyway. It will always fail with incomplete or failed tests though unless there's an exemption procedure in your state/county.

Pay the 90 bucks and call it a day. your lucky you know someone to pass it for that cheap, in Utah they cracked down hard on shops for passing cars mostly for tinted windows but now if a shop gets caught one time they take there lisence away so no one will do it anymore. I'll have to put my stock exhaust on just to pass.

Joe- My CEL has never come on since I've done this mod. It's just saying that the cat monitor and O2 sensor aren't ready.
Jack- Thank you for your input. Thats what I was hoping and maybe the mod was just put in wrong and maybe I do need to remove the O2 sensor and just put a resister in. I'm currently talking to EvoDan (person who did the write up for the resisters) via PM's.
