What can I look for when shopping for a stock evo 9? I know what each trim level should look . I know what the engine bay should have or not have. Is there any way to check if it's been tune on the spot? Thanks

 

You could check that the 2-step is still stock. Not a guarantee, but is easy to do with no equipment.

 

Take it to a shop and have them check the ecu.

all nines come with a 2 step so that advice will not help you much

 

He means check that it's still at 5k. Most people with flashed ROMs will have a higher 2-step than stock.

 

Exactly, but like I said.... its still no guarantee. You should be able to find someone in your local area with a Tactrix cable that would be willing to go with you and pull the ROM.

 

hey guys i have an 05 and i know for a fact i have a 10.5 hotside. is their really any difference between my turbo compare to a 9 excluding the mivec system?

 

Mivec has nothing to do with the turbo, but yes, there is a difference. Someone that knows the specifics can list them, I don't. =(

 

the only reason im asking is because i know the earlier evos came with a 9.8 hotside and i think i read some where that the 9s came with a 10.5 hotside and some later 05 evos (like mine) came with it the 10.5 hotside too. So thats why im wondering if the late 05 have the same turbo as the 9's?

i think 9 turbo's have bigger compressor housing or something like that. not too sure.
