swapping factory gauges for aftermarket ones???

I have been searching around on here all day and can't find anything! Does anyone know if you can swap the sport meter boost, oil temp, and volt gauges out for aftermarket ones? Obviously, you can, but I want to know if you can keep the OEM sport meter wiring and just swap the gauges. Anyone done this?

i dont think you would be able to unless what ever guage you did had the same hook up as the stock 3 gauges. And FYI the holes that those 3 guages are in (im guessing you have the set-up of the MR?) arent your standard 52mm, they are something like 46mm or w.e.
so just order 3 new guages and run them its not hard, becuase i dought any aftermarket guage will work with the stock guage connections.

simply answer...no

you'd have to do some rewiring on the sports meter harness as the oil temp and volts have special pin connectors

as evodom mentioned the gauges are also I believe 42mm and the only aftermarket alternative that is close is a 45mm omori gauge

To clear up fitment due to gauge size, I plan on using a different bezel. As far as the wiring, I have no problems repinning the connectors, that's easy. What I am wondering is if the aftermarket gauges use different numbers of wires, sensors that don't cross over, or different inputs...as I would think that a digital vs. mechanical boost gauge would use a different set up. I hope I am clearing my question up as it evolves. If anyone has any more info based on this, I would love to hear it.
TIA,
Jeff

I don't think anyone has successfully used the oem oil temp sensor with an aftermarket gauge

both gauges require a boost source so you may be able to use the boost tube and both gauges would need a ground and power for illumination

the meter kit harness has grounds/switched 12v sources/standard 12v sources

This is the most close to stock gauge setup you are probably going to find. It will require some re-wiring, but it's simple.

u can also try Omori 45mm gauge . they will fit ur stock sport meter gauges plus they come in amber color and will match perfectly with ur interior lights. u can buy them at www.j-spectuning.com here is pic of the 45mm omori boost gauge modified to fit the stock lancer gauge in evo cluster.

they won't fit unless you modify the bezel

hmm arent stock gauges 46mm .. ??? maybe i am worng . i tired to put a mechanical stock mitsu boost gauge in my cluster. i was having hard time doing it , that's why i ended up with a 45mm omori gauge. the thing is only .80 inch deep. it worked out like pretty easy. i know 1mm is not a big difference. but it can make a difference.

I wanted to replace my stock boost gauge with an AEM Truboost. Is the DIN bezel actually large enough to accomodate a 52mm gauge if you machine it? It seems like it might be too small.
