I've dealt with a few differnt dealerships, both on the west coast and east, and it's the same anywhere I go. Even though I do my own oil changes anyway I wouldn't mind a free one every now and again since it will save me from having to get under my dirty salty cold car once or twice this winter. Haha.
That makes good sense.

I certainly don't trust dealerships, after they tried to sell me a salvaged Evo as brand new, back in 2003.
The car was from Potamkin NYC, and I believe Koppel in Queens (my dealer) was in on it too.
Anyway, I don't think they can mess up an oil change, but I would rather they give me the free oil and filter, and do the work myself.

I dont trust their 10 min oil change. Took me about 2 hours last week to do my change(car was in storage for 15 months so I was looking for problems too)
I let my car idle for about 10-15 min and check bottom to see if oil is leaking.

2 hours seems pretty excessive for an oil change. It isn't that hard to change the oil on our cars. Pretty easy actually.

I had my oil changed at Veracom Mitsubishi, which I later came to find is pretty much the worst dealer that there is, but regardless they filled my oil to the 6 cylinder specs? <- WTF didn't know there was a 6 cylinder evo. Anyways never went back there again and have done it myself since. Luckily there was no damage to the car as I double checked their work. Not saying all dealers are like this but make sure to double check their work!

Bumping this up.

I just went to the dealership and you can just get the oil, filter, and crush washer for free and do it yourself!

Even if you don't use Mobil-1 you can sell the five 1QT bottles they give you.

Too bad I just changed my oil last weekend...oh well got everything ready for next time!

i dont see the big deal, how can you possibly mess up an oil change? if they tank your motor cause the oil change, you will get a new motor put in. its happened before when i used to work for a dealer, if they mess something up, they will have to replace it. lol

go in for a free oil change, come out with a free motor. hahaha

She handed me five 1QT bottles of Mobil 1 10W-30 Synthetic, OEM filter with the crush washer and that was it.

Why on earth would they give you Valvoline when they tell you to use Mobil 1?
