Honestly, as with anything that becomes hugely popular, quality seems to go down or the name is applied to parts that aren't really of as good quality as the original.
I can't say I've seen a lack of quality from Brembo but I definitely think with them becoming a household name they have become over-rated. I have seen sites selling "Brembo blanks" which are blank rotors, supposedly Brembos, that they will machine for you however you'd like - be it slotted, drilled, cross-drilled, a combination, etc. And I've seen several people report that they are crap and warp very easily.
It's my guess that, and I could be wrong about this but, once you can go up to a 5-year-old and ask him what brand of whatever you should get put on your car, it's probably time to go with another brand. I find that works with exhaust (Borla/Flowmaster being the household names) and brakes (Brembo), although it doesn't seem to apply outside the car world since many name-brand items are indeed of great quality.
I dunno, I just think it'd be cheesy to get Brembos. Everybody's got Brembos now. I remember when they came on the 1st gen Viper and the car magazines raved about them. That's around the time when Brembo started becoming a big name. Now 350Zs are coming with them. Come on. That tells me they've "sold out" in a sense, in that they're offering lesser products with their name on them to sell via their reputation.
I think Stoptech is the next big name in brakes worth checking out. I've seen a lot of JDM high performance, highly-modified cars with Stoptech lately so that seems to be the way to go.
When you're not number one (Brembo is easily number one) but you're striving for it, you have to work harder and produce parts with higher quality and more testing in order to compete, especially since Number One will always get excess sales and praise simply from the whole "popularity" thing I just spoke about.
Of course you could ignore all my prejudicial babbling and just hire someone to do an independent brake test and find out which are actually the best gripping, least fading brakes.
Chris - TurboXS's headquarters (unlike a lot of popular aftermarket shops) is actually on the East Coast, and in your area to an extent - they are just a couple miles from where I work in Gaithersburg, MD. So not only could you get their supposedly-high-quality parts, but you could have them installed by the maker, which is something I know you like to do (referencing your RMR products).
They have an AWD dyno as well and they are branching out into the Evo8 market so I'm sure they're someone who would be very interested in working with you perhaps to help R&D new parts if that's something you're interested in. I'd bet they'd do free dyno-tuning if you bought parts they are R&Ding.
I'm sure they already have at least one Evo for R&D but it always helps to have at least two.

I think you need to go EXTREME... forget these piddly mods... I would get the new
2.4L engine, get some race pistons and custom forged rods and custom fabbed exhaust manifold with a GT60 or T72 attached to it. Then you gotta do the 4" downpipe because you'll have to tune your MOTEC to about 26-32 PSI.

Mods, you can close this thread whenever you want. I originally meant I was looking for the best off-the-shelf parts I could get. Now people are missing the point. Thanks to everyone for their input.
