anyone know if this is a bad idea?

i bought an evo recently and it has a cutoff, and the person i bought it from said that it was tuned with the cutoff open, but i like running it with it closed because i like it quieter, and he said you shouldnt floor it, but im figuring the backpressure cant be that bad? am I wrong? thanks

I would assume a cutoff would cause boost spike, thats probably why the guy said dont floor it, but we all know assumptions are the mother of all f*ckups.

This happened in my DSM with its primitive boost control solenoid with an open downpipe. I had custom exhaust made and it was fine after that.

log the car and see what it looks like

if you have a stock exhaust...i would definitely advise against beating on it with the cutout closed

To be sure if the air/fuel is fine is to have it logged and then looked over by a tuner either somone local or you could email the log to a tuner to have it looked over and they can tell you if its safe or needs to be adjusted the way you drive it.

a cutout wont hurt anything when the car is tuned for it
evos with cutouts are just so obnoxiously loud. trade the cutout for a test pipe
