To those of you using the Miata battery, did you use the stock tray and holding hardware? Does anyone have a pic of a Miata battery installed? I'd like to see what sort of clearance I'd end up with.

Thanks!

It is a CNCed aluminm one. You can buy them on ebay.

I will post pics later of the ground location but I think it might be a poor location. I will probably redo it.

As you requested. Sorry the engine bay is dirty.

As you can see I have to still cut the hold down bolts or just get new ones.

^^ Sorry to bring this one back from the dead, but I bought the 35 as well and the positive terminal would not lie flat (just as the above). Any other pics of the 35 installed?

I just installed mine and will post up pics when i get a chance. Just remember to get a height adjuster for the battery. This raises it a bit so you dont have to bolt the battery tie down as far. My battery didn't come with the height adapter but i called optima and they shipped me one for free.

Also, to fix the terminal problem, i might just dremel a notch in the back so it lays flush.

I have the blue top optima in my show truck it's a deep cycle battery it's been in my truck for 7 years now it always starts right up and it sits for months at a time.

Also, I want to know if anyone has had luck with either a red top Optima or an interstate.

I can get the interstate for 68.00 since I work at a shop, but figured maybe a red top would be good.

I don't really need the race battery(right now).

Thanks for your help.

So thats what that red thing was? . I thought it was just a cover. After I saw this pic, I went out to the garage and sure enough on that part it says "use under battery as necessary." In fact the one I got came with a 2 part one (A and B). The one above looks like the "B" one so I'll try just that one. Thanks a lot! .

Used stock tray, SS 1/4" threaded rod, 2x SS wingnuts, 4x SS washers, 1x SS nyloc nut, A brad-holt T-nut from lowes (used on right side holddown rod), and some strap aluminum. Probably cost $100 max with battery.

Reviving this thread.

Are the more expensive batteries, like the Optima Red, worth it for someone who has no plans in doing major audio work?
