The ballast mounts under the headlight or on the side somewhere. Do not remove or take apart the projector housing. Most all hid kits are plug in and play type. You should be able to put the hid bulb right into where the factory low beam bulb went without modification.

When you take the hid bulb and place into the projector, does it sit flush? And is there a wire clip that wraps around the bulb to secure it to the back of the projector? What kind of hid kit is it and what type of bulbs did you remove?

...

From the pictures you posted. Your new bulbs come with a clear plastic casing that is there to protect them during shipping. you unscrew it and the top comes off, then you back the bottom off the wire. Then you plug the bulb in(don't touch the bulb).

As long as the hid kit you purchased is a 9006 kit, the bulb will seat into the projector just like the factory bulb. And just like rgar said, remove the plastic case that surrounds the bulb. I like to use latex gloves when I'm messing with hid bulbs.

Yeah... This thing is trash, and doesn't belong on your lights.
