trouble selling evo's?
lol wow some of you guys are just like wow. If my car has mods you are going to pay alittle higher price for it being modded period. Im not selling my car for a dirt digger price just to get rid of it. thats the problem the mindset of some of you people. if you want 18k for your car you post it at that and leave it there eventually somebody will come along that understands whats in it and will not mind paying that amount or close to it. Its when your break down and say forget it ill take 12k. thats what brings the market down. now im not saying i put 30k in mods in there lets tack that on to the price you have to understand its used and some miles on it etc but you should not be giving your car away and it seems there are a select few that are.
ppl are having a harder time getting financed i think..... plus, there are actually quite a few for sale... i picked mine up for like 14000 last year and then two weeks later a buddy of mine told me he would have sold me his for 11000.... wtf.....

Definitely....I won't get a low ball price for my evo...go f yourself. We pay a lot of money for these cars and a lot of money modding and taking care of them. If someone doesn't like the price tell them to go buy a civic or some other POS.
I talked about this with my neighbor yesturday... We came to a conclusion that people who are looking for evos are 18-28 year old guys. In this age $$$ is a big issue in this economy. From my own experiance, i know that modded cars are extremly hard to sell. I had t61 mkiv sigle turbo supra. It had 27k including parts and cars value in it, ending up selling it for 14500... So one thing i want to point out, that if you mod ur car be prepared to loose. Man, hope my 06 mr will go fast...

More than anything its the owners that will decide what these cars are worth. Just look at other imports to get an idea of what I am talking about (Supra, FDs, etc.). If you sell one cheap thats your choice, but dont expect to control the market.
Supply and demand. If someone wants the Evo bad enough, they pay a higher price. The problem is people are asking a lot of money ($27k for a IX MR with 35k miles???) It's 4 years old! Once you get into the $25k and up range, there are lots of performance cars out there to compete with.
The '03 to '06 Evo has a VERY limited audience. From a performance standpoint, they are worth the money, no doubt. But MOST "sport car" buyers are looking for a combination of comfort and performance..... and these ain't comfortable lol.
When we sold our first IX MR in 2008 with only like 17k miles, I couldn't get the damn thing sold. We wound up selling it for either $23,500 or $24,500, I can't remember which. And it took a LONG time to get it sold.

Its up to you to come up with the rest in cash or keep looking.
well be prepared to sit on a car as well. no excuses. if you need to sell it make sure its payed off before you decide to sell it. If not you should have never bought the car to begin with to be honest. I know TONS and im mean tons of people down here that want evos. now would i pay 25k for a 06 hell no. LOW MILES DOES NOT MEAN BETTER. on top of that you guys have not even talked about folks that put built motors in there car whoa 0 miles
. Quit being so picky and wanting every dollar out the evo. You have to pay to play and mods dont persay add to price but they should not be given away as a bonus to buying the car. I dont agree with the comment folks want stock evos. America as a whole is a LAZY NATION we want everything easy a person rather buy a tastifully modded evo then a stock one if your going to mod/race/track anyway saves them tons of money and labor cost at that point its about checking the car checked out for a clean bill of health. i own alot of cars and i have never had a issue selling my modded cars just takes the right person and you as the seller have to have the right mind set.

Low miles, never modded is universally accepted as being worth more.
Some people may get excited by seeing mods, or a listing that says "NEW MOTOR!" in a three year old car, but that's a big turn off to most.

People that know what to look for when buying a car, obviously know what to look for.
Hell, I have 50k on my 04 Evo and would not sell her less than $20k. I have replaced all the bushings with Whitleine pieces, head gasket and timing belt and water pump done...., rebuilt brake calipers, new pads rotors, etc.
It's being able to get into a car when you buy it and not have to dump a lot more money into it.
Make your buyer comfortable in knowing everything has been handled and just to enjoy it.

I really REALLY wanted a nice condition used IX when I sold the Porsche. I spent a good 6 months looking around trying to find one with under 40k miles for less than 23k. No luck anywhere. Found this STi with 7k miles, still under warranty, dealer owned car, at a dealer who offered a great trade for the Porsche. All for 27k otd. Why buy a 2 year old car with 4-5x the mileage for nearly the same price?

Like the X...
Tasteful, small mods, sure. The guy that wound up buying my Evo from the dealer was thrilled. Nice stereo system, tune, the necessary gauges, a TRE TC, TBE with high flow cat and optional test pipe. That's it. Perfect starter combo. Did it sell for a little bit more because of the mods? Yeah. I think the dealer listed it at 1,000 over what it normally would've been listed at. The mods were worth over 3k though.
Once you start getting into bigger mods... A lot of buyers start thinking "Hmmm... how trashed is this car..."

Just as ANOTHER point to consider, a vast majority of folks selling a modded evo will make claims of "$x,xxx in mods" yet never subtract the price of the OEM parts from that equation... Something I never understood, if someone adds (just an example) a turbo back exhaust that cost say $2,000... VERY RARELY IF EVER will someone realize "huh... the OEM parts are about the same price... therefore it is a wash... at best."
The bigger issue in my mind, from buying/selling over 35 cars in my 13yrs of driving thus far.... is that a modded car, severely limits your potential buyers... a stock car appeals more universally, nevermind the value, but just simply the pool of potential buyers of it.
I have bought many cars for a killer price, and did so because 1. it was modded, or MORE LIKELY 2. the guy had to get rid of it (couldn't afford it)... made it great to walk in with cash, and make a deal... I typically make 5-10% on cars I resell, and alot of it is marketing, and being opportunistic with my cash.
