road trip cruise

Anybody ever take their Evo on a long road trip? like half way across the country? I'm gonna take one in a couple weeks. It must really suck without cruise control tho

I'd suggest using painter's tape to cover your whole front bumper and little bit of the hood...the paint on our cars is GARBAGE. I drove from NorCal to SoCal and back and it looks like I drove through a warzone.

I've done a few partial cross country drives in my Evo. Not having cruise control is the worst thing about it. The Recaros are comfortable enough but I would suggest one of those travel neck pillows for the added support. Depending on how heavy your foot is, the refueling stops every 200-300 miles helps keep you awake. And of course, make sure you have plenty of music.

If you're worried about the paint, this stuff might be worth looking into also. Kind of like a temporary clear bra. I don't have any personal experience with it though.

taken mine to florida...13 hour trip according to mapquest...made it in 10, made it back in 8 lol. i've taken it to dallas many many many many times. that used to be a 4-5 hour drive for me, now it's 8 hours or so. i guess you can tell i've done some driving seeing as how I have154k on my 06 IX MR lol the no cruise thing never bothered me because i'm always passing, and moving, or I find interesting roads to take.

Last summer I did a big trip from PA to San Francisco, down to San Diego, then Arizona, Colorado, and back to PA... ~8000 miles in 13 days. Like the others said, your right ankle will probably get sore after a couple of hours, but gas breaks will help that obviously. Wasn't too bad. I'm pretty **** about changing my oil every 3-4k miles, so I stopped at a dealership in LA to get it changed and it cost me $90!! No problems otherwise.

Many cars have thousands of dollars in modifications but no cruise. Installing cruise is one of the easier and cheaper installs you can do and has, as thread points out, real benefits.

If you're going to be painting your front bumper, make sure to clear bra it afterwards. You'll never have to worry about scratches or paint chips on the front.

That's the only place I've seen it, I hate Lancershop though... Installation instructions are on that page too

I do not take my EVO on long cruise. The longest trip I have made is around 200 miles one way.

Yes, having no cruise helps on freeways.

I drove mine back from Arizona to Texas when bought it. Fun drive, with the exception of a bad clutch.

I drove my Evo from Nevada to Vancouver Canada. It was a really fun trip with many mountain roads.
