Can I swap an evo vii engine with a viii?

Well my evo is on its last months, as the engine has over 200,000 k/m, im suprised it lasted this long without regular service stops and maintanience.

I love the design, and have greatly modded the interior and recently repainted, so I realy dont want to give this car up, so I was wondering if I can replace the evo vii's engine with one from a viii

Thanks alot!

It should be perfectly possible. They are more or less the same car and the actual engine has been the same for the last few generations.

why not rebuild your evo vii motor? the cylindar walls are probably perfectly square and wonderfully bored so you most likely have a perfect block if your motor lasted that long with no problems. also your crank is probably balanced perfectly. i say just rebuild it.

I agree with zlancer, just re-build the engine that you already have. This is much more economical, you already know the history of the engine, and you can have it built to your own specs. Good luck.

A re-build with some top-quality internals will probably be cheaper than trying to buy a new Evo VIII crate motor anyway.

200,000 km in only a few years? damn! definately replace the internals and build up that motor, not only will you be getting a 'new' motor in a sense, but a stronger one as well.

Thanks for your input!

They did say you should rebuild it but im sure they meant take it to a qualified shop to do it, not you yourself. I cant wait for the day my evo8 engine goes Ka BOOOOM. so i can rebuild it stronger.
