OEM = Paper filter media FAIL, i preffer synthetic media glass enhanced and OEM does not offer that.

WIX filters for 5 bucks = synthetic media filtering capabilities, filtering small particles and good for 7500 miles
AMSOIL EA filters = waste of money unless you are planning on running more than 10,000 -25,000 miles with it,,, or unless you are oil clean must be always type of person,,,, with this EA filter many customers notice that their oil does not get dirty at all

Purolator is great filter also.

Fram = junk

Mobile, K&N = waste of money unless you are planing to give your money away

can you elaborate on why mobil 1 is a waste of money? Never heard that really before. I usually get it when it's bundled with oil of choice.

I've heard lots of great things about the Purolator Pure One and Wix filters. Currently I run the Pure One's because I can pick them up locally.

I just use the skinny NapaGold filter cause its easier to get my hands around it to change it.

sorry to bring back an old thread but i am due for an oil change soon and dont know which filter to go with. the previous owner had used oem mits, i have put a ryco filter on but i seem to burn oil as i have had to top it up a few times.
I have an JDM evo8 as i am from aus. i am tossing up between an oem filter and a k&n filter ?? for some reason i can get a k&n filter HP1010 cheaper than an oem filter ??
WHICH would you guys recommend? cheers.

Wix filters are the only filters I would ever run on my car. Napa Gold filters are reboxed Wix filters.

I use Bosch. K&N makes good products I wouldn't hesitate to use one.
