Need some advise for timing belt job.

I have an evo 9 and it's time for the timing belt job. I would definitely try to save some money on this job. What should I really change when it comes to the timing belt job. Remember! i wanna go conservative. I don't beat on my car. Always take it easy. Any advise on this would be appreciated. Thanks guys

just replace the timing belt and balance belt. if the water pump and the hydrolic tensioners look fine i would not replace them but make sure you do at the next timing belt service. everything else you can change yourself like plugs, wires, drive belt etc. when need be.

There is no such thing as conservative when you own an Evo. Do it right and replace everything. The last thing you need at the back of your mind is "what if"

If you are under 100k and want to be cheap about it, get the tbelt and balance belt done. In reality, just get the service kit from russellm and do it right once and not worry about it.

Good Luck.

its not an easy job for a 1st timer but it isnt rocket science do your homework first get your tools and stuff ready and you should be able not to bend valves by taking your time and do it right the first time

The best advise is to do what the manual says, change everything it says when it says to. It will prolong the life of your car as long as you take care of it. The best way to save $ on a timing belt job is to do it yourself and not pay labor to the dealer. I decided not to change a couple of the idler pulleys when I did mine, and guess what, 2 months down the road they both went bad and I had to go back and change them anyway. Its your call. Cheaping out on the maintenance is one of the worst things that you can do to an Evo.
