Wingless
REASONS WHY OWNERS REMOVE THERE WING... (note that i did not say "why u should")
The wing DOES attract attention:
we are trying to say is that the wing is what attracted them to ur car... jus think about it... u have a FULLY STOCK evo driving behind 2 fart can civics... from a lil distance the cop can hear exhaust notes... but from where?!? then guess what he see's... A big ol spoiler on the trunk of your car... guess who's getting pulled over today... ofcoarse he's not going to tell you that he pulled you over because of ur wing... (I'm an MP btw) while he's walking to ur car he's thinking of some bullshiz excuse to why he's bothering you... so say what u want... the wing DOES attract attention whether it be good/bad
SAVES WEIGHT:
I haven't had the time to properly weigh a factory evo wing... but im assuming it does have a little weight to it... if u've taken one off ur evo then u would know... pop the trunk on a winged evo and all u hear is the sound... pop the trunk on a wingless evo and u swear that bit*h is goin to fly off the car...
NOT ALL ABOUT THE WING:
for those who say that the wing is what makes an evo... please please... you have an evo... its time to drop the rice bag and stop thinking about what others think about YOUR car... IF THATS THE CASE NEXT TIME U GO TO UR DELEARSHIP TELL THEM U WANT THE WING REMOVED AND REATTACHED TO 4 WHEELS, GIVE THEM UR 35K AND LETS SEE HOW GOOD THAT PERFORMS...
REAR VIEW MIRROR:
The wing is 90% of the time in ur REAR view mirror reflection...
Officer: "didn't u see me trying to wave you down for the past 1.5miles?"
You: "oo im sorry officer, but there's this black line running across my rear view mirror that's suppose to increase my downforce once i'm going over 88mph ina 60MPH ZONE!!!!"
All in all, if u bought an evo for it's looks then quite simply you bought the wrong car... Whether an owner decides to go wingless or leave his wing on should have no affect on his desire to drive his car more/less... yes, i know its a functional piece... but lets face it, out of the many different types of auto racing out there which one really benefits you from keeping ur factory spoiler on? the same with suspension/tires/etc...
I honestly have NO PREFERENCE... my first evo came with a wing so i kept it on... my current evo didnt come with one and it doesnt bother me one bit... i can still get in and enjoy my car jus as much...
OO AND BTW:
IMO i think the lancer wing on the evo is by faaaaaarrr the noobiest/MOST nonfunctional/ugliest THING that a bored owner with no sense of body style or creativity can do... go play with ur dog/wife/children but PLEASE leave the *** of ur car alone...

IMO, the car looks woefully incomplete without the wing. It gives it visual balance.
yep im gonna have to say,its the tint not the wing.i rode out for 5 years no tint in 2 seperate evos with wings. never got pulled by the popo..as for this topic.i roll with the wing and without..FTW

Mine was destroyed in the accident I had( Yes, the only one in history, I know)... and apparently Mitsu wanted $1700 for a new one so I used that insurance money for something else and had the body shop fill the holes in the trunk.
Edit:
And for how tall I am, the carbon center of the wing was at a very annoying point in the rearview. So much so I had a Rexpeed type-C on order shortly before crashing... that arrived the day after.

No wing here!
I happen to like not sticking out. I don't need people to 'notice me' to boost my self esteem, and the wing does three things I HATED.
1) Cut off the top half of every car behind me so I can't see cops. Terrible.
2) Lowered mileage. Not significant, but why would I keep something that didn't do anything but cost me money?
3) It looks like a joke. You take it off and the car looks 10x classier. Granted it's a hopped up lancer so that isn't much, but anything to keep from looking like one of those absurd honda civics with the giant wing and no go fast parts.

I disagree that its just a "hopped up" lancer.. the LANCER nameplate doesnt do any justice to the EVOLUTION the succeeds it. Also I'm not sure "classy" is a good way to describe any sport compact, yes even though is a sedan lol, its no BMW, Porche, etc. but OT, apoligies...
