car possibly out of time Need some expertise!

Hey guys I have 03 evo 8. I am currently installing a new clutch, I am about half through I just installed the resurfaced fly wheel and a new serpentine belt. After putting on the flywheel I noticed the timing belt had alot of slack in it. It really scared me. I cranked the motor over a few times with a ratchet and the timing belt did get tight again. But now I am super paranoid and think It may be out of time! Is there any sure way? the engine turns over fine with ratchet. I was thinking once I put it back together to have it towed to guys garage that deals with dsms... What do you guys think about my situation?

Turn the crank clockwise and put cylinder# 1 on tdc. Take you timing belt cover off and check your cam gear mark to make sure the marks are right on the money. But If your timing belt has alot of slacks when its on tdc, then you should consider replacing it. Just my opinions, hope that helps.

thanks for advice, timing cover is already off. the timing belt doesn't have any slack now. are the cam gears suppose to be symmetrical? as is both lines in the same direction??

Check the links out. Its a cam install but you have to put the motor tdc just as your doing a timing belt job, or taking the head off.

The 2nd link you should see the tdc mark on the cam gears and where it lines up to the valve cover. G/l
