Help, not sure about the whine

I've read through several threads but not fully match my problem. I just got my evo back from getting the t case back because of a horribly loud whine. It drove fine for a couple of days with some of the noise still there but no where near as bad. I didn't start the car for the next few days because of the huge amount of snow we got. So when I started and drove off, the noise started to come back in fourth gear (even @ 30mph) and in 5th. it gets horribly loud around 60mph, though as soon as I let off the gas it goes away n when I get back on it it comes back. I have no idea, please help.

I'd say this until you post clip.

White wine with fish, red wine with meat.

Annoying whine with transfer cases.

Will post clip when I get off work. If I had the ring and pinion gear replaced, shouldn't that have fixed it?

put your car on four jackstands so that all wheels are far above the ground. Turn on your engine (be careful when doing this) and shift it into 5th gear and let it idle in 5th with all wheels spinning. Grab your stethoscope (or a long screw driver) and put it up to the transfer case (do not get too close to any spinning driveshafts, wheels, or axles, or you will get twisted lol) if you hear the noise coming from the tcase then they probably didn't replace jack **** or they replaced it with a bad ring and pinion (used) or they didn't correctly set the gear lash. ALSO make sure you also check the rear differential, if its going bad, it makes very similar noises (it also has a ring and pinion much like the xfer case).

Depends really. A basic rebuild from shep is around $1k after tax and shipping. Goes up from there.
