I think the gearing is different though. A lot of drag guys need to go into 4th and the ones that go faster than 110ish need to shift into 5th. Above all its a weaker transmission. Even the shep rebuilt one (which costs $$$ compared to a 5spd rebuild) will handle 450wtq on the high end.
What are these brake cooling guides you guys are talking about? Is it the channel like things on the undertray?
At 50mph on a winding road I'm in 3rd, maybe 4th if the winding backroad isn't all that winding. I don't think my Evo ever saw 5th below highway speeds. No reason for it.

Thanks for the correction, I didn't know what they were officially called. I'm trying to find the most cost effective brake cooling ducts/guides to put on the car. I heard the stock ones are pretty easy to break off, and the AMS one is pretty pricey. Do you know of any other kinds?

Including buying 10' of tubing from racerparts it was about $200 total investment (plus $0.30 in zip ties)

Why nobody has pointed you to the BINARY brake ducting is beyond me...... VERY cost effective and a quality product.
