No EVO for me...at least not anytime soon
No EVO for me...at least not anytime soon
I had planned to get an EVO this summer after my house was finished being build but it seems the fates have decided otherwise. My piece of **** 93 Civic decided to develop a bad transmission bearing (and probably bad synchros, and it needs a clutch too). Instead of spending another 1500 bucks to fix the transmission, not to mention all the other parts I've replaced this year, I think I will buy something more affordable, with a warranty. Right now I am looking at a Sentra Spec V, a Civic, or maybe a small truck. Bah.
Anyway, I am not looking for any pity; I just wanted to say thanks for all the info and excitement this board generates for this awesome car. Lets hope that
will keep the US EVO going a few more years.
Thanks again, I'll be lurking.

I think you're making a big mistake
How much is a Spec V?
$18,000?
After tax and all that other BS It'll probably be $20,000+
That kinda money is not chump change, I would not be buying a car that I don't really want
I see so many people buy a new car they don't want then in a year get raped in the *** on trade in for the car they really wanted
Just save up alittle more then get the car you really want

My brother has a Spec-V, yes they are fairly nice BUT 2 years ago they were fast, but times have changed and i dont justify 20G for a spec-v. Als0 just fix the car, wait 5 months and purchase an EVO, you wont regret it.
you can also pick up left over 2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege's right now for around $17k in some places. Very fun little car and IMHO looks a lot better and handles a lot better than the SE-R's......power seems to be pretty even though.

Hold out!
Dump a little money to keep that Civic running just long enough to get your Evo. You'll be blowing tons of money go another router.

I mention the Spec V cuz I can get it for around 15K through a program we have at work making it a nicer alternative to another ******* Civic. Also, I am afriad of spending more money on the Civic because it needs other stuff like suspension work and motor mounts. Something about 10 year old Honduhs just makes then fall apart all of the sudden.
I also looked at the SRT-4. but 20K is too much right now with all the other expenses I will have to pay with the new house. Right now if everything goes right, summer of 2005 may be EVO time.
Thanks for the input, maybe I will win the lottery and none of this will matter -- and I'll buy ya'll a Buschur exhaust.
If you're looking for the under 20k segment, check out the new Mazda3 also. I haven't seen one in person, but it's definitely intriguing me. My local dealer has a few on the lots, so I'll probably check one out soon. Only low point is you probably won't be able to get a good deal since they're new and a 2004, though a dealer may be willing to cut a deal to get the sale in this year.
Why not a 02 spec v? you'll save bundles by not getting a brand new one, and if you're planning to sell the car before you get the evo, at least you won't lose that much money since the car has already depreciated so much.
