HKS BOV leak on Boost leak test
HKS BOV leak on Boost leak test
So im tracing down boost leaks today because I knew I had a bad leak somewhere (line off tb to intake manny). But while I have it all apart I know I have a leak at the HKS ssqv. I recirculate it back in to the intake. But at 25 psi boost leak test, it flows out air fairly well. Its leaking out the dump vent not around the gasket base. I dont think this is normal, should I try to adjust it as it has the bolt and nut on the back.
Thanks,

All hks ssqv had an adjustment nut and bolt in the back of them till a couple years ago when they did a slight redesign. That doesn't mean it's a knock off. We used to fiddle with the bolt to get better response at part throttle. When they went to the design with no adjustment on the back was when they started getting finnicky.
Op, if it's got the nut and bolt on the back that means it's several years old at least, may be time for a new valve if adjusting it doesn't work. These days there are much better valves on the market with better drivability. So u may want to consider upgrading.

Well I googled it and u guys are right. I've never seen one however and didn't know. The diaphram itself might have dryrotted or cracked and be causing ur problem? Andd no its not normal. U might have to rebuild it if tightening the nut doesn't work if you can find the rubber diaphram

Had this happen to my Greddy BOV. I kept having a bad boost leak when I would get on the autobahn and jump on it. I had a shop do a boost test, said it was good, but drove it home and same problem. Finally I took off my Greddy and put the stock back on. I even noticed when I would push on the valve from inside i would lift up about 1/8" with only moderate pressure. BOV turned out to be the issue, I guess there is a replacement spring I could have got, but didn't have time before the accident or desire.
i used to have the old hks (with the adjustment screw). I have since changed to the forge rs valve. I have been loving this new valve for a couple years now. the best part is it is not nearly as much money as the hks.
