curiosity... anyone running a dual set up

I am new to the community and driving an 04 gsr coming over from Bmw's I'm still learning. I am thinking of running a double tune on a toggle switch. One for e85 and one for 91. Anyone doing this? My current set up is full exhaust, intake, cam gears, perrin intercooler, burchur upper pipe, 272 cams, hallman boost controller, ported polished head, end blow off valve. Running 27 psi on 91 and want a little more. Anyone have a dual setup? Is it bad for the motor to run a dual set up? Thanks

Yea map switching is pretty popular with evos, as it can be done on stock ecu with a switch. A lot of people use the intercooler spray switch

buddy of mine uses it and loves it. Your going to need bigger injectors and a fuel pump. Not bad for the motor to run 2 maps. if anything the e85 will clean out your fuel system and gunk. Only caution is making sure you remember to be as empty as possible when switching fuels. (and actually remembering to flip the switch lol )

+2.... I agree with both the above replies. And I believe there is even a way with the proper ecu mapping software that you can just be cruising on 91 and stop to fill up with say E85 and your programing will detect the changes in octane and adjust accordingly. So you won't have to worry about being almost empty while on 91, before you fill up on E85 and then flip the switch. Though I haven't seen it with my own eyes as of yet so don't, "QUOTE" me on that.

wont hurt motor. I think it's a great idea to have diff tunes, just make sure tank is almost empty before switching and you will be set. E85 FTW

Nice thanks for the input. My fuel pump is actually a 255 so should support it though I will need injectors and the spray switch is a good idea considering I've heard its pretty pointless. I'm also gonna get a lower intercooler pipe beforehand should I upgrade anything else?

It depends on how far you want to go with the 85. I had a 255 on my FP White Rabbit back when I first started on 85... back in 08 but when I upgraded to the FP RED and I was pushing upwards of 33+PSI even with 1000cc injectors I ran out of gas. I then upgraded to Buschur's Double Pumper, but after that I also ended up with their 4" FMIC so I could get well into the 500 Club. Soooo depending on how far you want to go will definately dictate what else you need to upgrade. Oh and that said are you still on a stock clutch, cause you will probably need to upgrade that also if big #'s are what you are after. Jus my 2c based off my hindsight bias in my experiance with such things

Yes, running dual map.

Once you go E85, you will never want to switch back, LOL.

You can actually utilize the gas pedal in the evo to switch maps, that is how I have mine set up

me too Fred. You set it up through your TPS sensor. So instead of the TPS switching your car into Valet mode, it switchs to your Alt map.

Nice So does the CEL flash or something to let you know that you are now on the E85 map and no longer on the 93 tune? How do you know when you are running which??
