debris, deep scratch on crank or the crank has been milled excessively. a big one would be not using a lube when installing

Dude, just asking if it's a OEM crank or aftermarket. Used or not.
I'm not trying to be a d*ck.
Also, it does depend on who put it together. I just had a guy put one together himself and it only lasted 300 miles. So yes, a shop or a self build?

is it leaking where the seal meets the crank or where the seal rides on the adapter?

gl man. at least this shop is helping you with it unlike some shops where they just say it didn't leak when it left.

i would think oem or after market they would be the same at the at the seal ends unless its faulty. what caused your rebuild to fail?

Depending on what rear main seal used, the spring inside the seal(behind the lip) can be twisted together to make it tighter. Just one or two turns might even work. Then put the spring back into the seal. Worst case is the spring, if it came with one popped out and is no longer giving tension to the sealing surface.
I'll go home and see if the oem have this spring or if it's only aftermarkets.

Good Luck in the meantime.
