Price of 03' EVO w/7k miles

I have a non EVO dealer offering me a 03' with 7000 miles for 24995. The car has 2 small paint blems that will need to be fixed. I have test drove the car and it needs alignment. Other than that it looks pretty pristine. Is this price decent? Is there other things I should check? It may have been a hard 7000! Thanks-

so you're going to save a couple grand on a car that has 7k miles on it.. you know it needs alignment, and you'll never know how hard it was driven.. or if it was broken in right.. humm sounds like a bad deal to me..

I would just pay the extra $4000 and get a new Evolution. You have no idea what could be wrong with that car, whether it was properly maintained, in an accident, etc. And that used car dealer will not be upfront with you about the true condition of the car. I speak from personal experience.

Try for 24K out the door. Also, run up and down the creases of the vehicle with your finger. New paint is smooth, a repaint will leave dirt and often a gritty seam.

Used ^ ? Cause if thats new I'm all for that deal hahah ...

I say go new cause that 4k or so less you could pay for a new one will be possibly coming around to bite you in the butt if that car wasn't properly maintained....

Well why the hell would someone want to get rid of an Evo already *well not considering accidents and stuff...and the whole age thing* ...

They want too much for it regardless of condition. The alignment thing scares me. Something's wrong. Maybe you should hook up with a local member who knows these cars and how they should drive. Any volunteers?

Thanks to all- The previous owner traded the car for a Crossfire, stating the ride was too harsh. I am a M3 owner and I know those cars inside and out. However, my lack of experience with the EVO spooks me because I don't know what to look for in this used EVO. I am speaking to a dealer about a new EVO over the weekend and will try for 27k-

The fact it's traded that soon doesn't bother me so much. I know people who trade that often and sooner. You could ask them to connect you with the prev. owner. Probably won't happen but ask them to call him and ask him to call you. Maybe he will and you can get some insight into breakin etc. Now that it's not his he should be forthright. Offer $24500 drive out. They'll probably have room in it as a trade in and it's gone before new years and taxes are due.

LD, Another issue is that It will cost me to correct the blems. If I can steal it from them I may do it. Can you give me a quick update on the break in deal? This would be my first turbo car-

Well, I don't know about breakin on the Evo but on the STi it's 4k rpm for the first 1k miles. If it were my customer and it would help me sell a car I'd call the previous owner and ask them to call the potential buyer. I'd hope they would tell the truth about how they broke the car in since it's a done deal now and they have nothing to lose by being truthful. I don't know where you are located but here $24500 drive out is about $22800 plus tax etc. which would be a decent deal I think. If you have a trade in that changes things, at least here because of sales tax, as far as the numbers go. When you think about "stealing" it from them you have to look at the base number, $22,800 in my example, because the rest is tax and other pass throughs. If you spent $1200 on it you'd have $24,000 in the car even though you have more out of your pocket due to taxes. Good luck with your purchase, whatever it turns out to be.

I just looked on Carquotes and you can get an new '03 for $25,789 at Biggers Mitsu in Elgin, IL. This is $1 over invoice and minus the $2000 manufacturer cash rebate.

Is that out the door or plus t.t.&l.?
$2k manufacturer cash rebate? I checked out Mark Mitsu here in Phoenix and they said there were no incentives, rebates, or anything like that, and they would barely come off sticker!
What gives?
