LICP Installed... questions.
I installed my LICP this evening. So far the car has a TBE with test pipe, UICP, now a LICP, and a cone filter.
After the LICP install (the battery was disconnected for about 3 hours (also doing A/C stuff)) the car's idle is crazy. When I started it, it ran at 2k RPM for awhile. Now it sort of lopes between 1100 and 700? Every now an again, my A/F gauge will come off of the 18+ line (resting position at idle) and go to maybe 16 and then back.
I dunno... the car just kind of sounds pissed off at the LICP install? The previous owner "deleted" the CEL whatever he meant by that? In any event... it's not on?
Anyone have any thoughts?
tl;dr = does that car sound different after a LICP install? Specifically @ idle?

First did you let your car idle for ~10 mins before driving it after reconnecting the battery (people forget). And for the CEL he deleted it by most likely through the ECU, that or he just took out the bulb for it.

If its not a serious boost leak or anything obvious like the Maf disconnected, I'd say it will normalize after you drive it around a little bit. Under boost, because the ECU needs to take a couple base logs after its been reset. Or so I believe. I just put my ETS LICP on with no issue.
Second question, sound? Its going to be a tad quieter spool. Mainly because more air volume and less velocity. So less air noise.

I was planning on doing the boost leak test today because during the process of installing the LICP yesterday, I also t bolt clamped everything. Its raining right now though... so I'm on standby lol.
It DOES seem to be an issue of learning. I know everything is hooked back up properly... including the MAF sensor... so I guess I'll get to it later this afternoon...

thats weird man, i installed my ets licp and my ets 3.5 intercooler today, i drove mine home fine, with my previous intercooler havin a small crack in a weld. So id say you prolly didnt tighten part of the piping up enough. good luck man

Fwiw... I got it all buttoned back up, and drove it around for a hot minute. It definitely doesn't feel faster, so I'm leaning towards boost leak. I didn't have time to do a boost leak test again today because of the wx.
Hopefully I'll get into it tomorrow or shortly after...

make sure when you go back to retighten each clamp on the coupler make sure to squeeze the coupler and make sure the bead of the pipe is in far enough and that the clamp is on the outside of the bead evenly secure on the coupler, start at compressor outlet j pipe and keep goin use other hand to support the middle of the pipe so that way it doesnt hang low while tightening it up. good luck
