Riddle me this, folks...

I'm having a bit of a problem. I think it's a misfire, but maybe compressor surge. It used to just happen while cruising (5th gear, 3-3500 rpms, boost gauge needle is inbetween 0-10inhg, but today it started doing it in the lower gears too.

Before I had a tune, it first did it when I replaced the stock airbox with an open air filter. After the tune, it disappeared for a while up to last week. Like I said, it seems to always happen during the same situation:

cruising in 5th, 60-70mph, 3-3500 rpms, 0-10inhg

I think because that it's not happening during boost, compressor surge might be ruled out, but I'm not 100% on that. It shudders when it happens and the SES light comes on

I have a new SpoolinUp COP with NGK Iridium bpr8eix gapped @ 0.026. Is the gap too much? Might it be spark blow out that I'm experiencing?

I have no idea what it might be because it happens intermittently. Any thoughts?

BOV flutter is my guess. You also don't need colder plugs for such a basic setup.

It's a diverter valve, but it has 3 different springs to choose from. It has the stiffest spring in it now.

Im using those plugs because when it was tuned, the bpr8es came recommended by the tuner, so when I got the COPs, I just went with the 8's but in Iridium. Do you think the gap needs closed up some?

Silver spring - same pressure as most OE recirculated valves
White spring - 30% stiffer than the silver spring
Red spring - 60% stiffer than the silver spring

I put the white one in now.

If the check engine light flashes, it's misfire. You might want to go back to stock ignition setup and see if it goes away.

The SES light could be coming on because it's bucking causing contact and the engine thinks it's knock.

I'd rule out misfire...never heard of that happening under light loads like you're describing but that's very easy to rule out, just gap the plugs smaller however you aren't at any power level needing a colder plug, just a smaller gap. I'm going with bov flutter, you learn to stay out of that range, downshift, give it more gas, just don't drive like that. Almost all bov's flutter when you drive under a very specific set of conditions like you're describing.

Sparktech recommended to put the gap to the spark plugs at 0.020, should be the same in Spoolinup.
