How much water needs to be in the stock battery?

Mine seems low and the car is not wanting to start. Before I start replacing things like the alt or battery, I would like to know how much water is supposed to be in this thing. Doesn't seem to be a thread on this topic for some reason.

Evo IX MR
60k miles
Stock battery
holds 14v while running, but once shut off, will not start again.

Thanks.

I have not check the water for some time in a battery but I know we used to fill them to the top. This was back when I was a kid and the world did a lot of things that were both unsafe and many time incorrect though.

Now if a battery gives me trouble I just get a new one.

I probably will just replace it, but I figured I would just ask before I drop $100 I didn't need to spend ya know?

Understood.

The only way I know to answer that would be to google it

I just know we used to fill them up (meaning to the top) if they were low. Not opened one up since the 80's though so who knows.

Did you put distilled water in it? Have you tried charging the battery?

Just put water in it. My jump box is charging right now. We'll see in an hour or so, otherwise I'll need a new battery.

Look on battery case you will see a line ( usually front side of battery) that is the fill line. Don't go over that. If you charge it remove the vent caps

Buy the way, distilled water is only used if you have run out of battery acid.

Load test the battery, you probably need a new one, especially if it jumps and runs but doesn't start after that.

Yea, jump box didn't do squat. Looks like I'll be buying a new battery. Lame.
